I had someone tell me one of my decks should have a theme song or soundtrack to it, which got me thinking: what deck would you give a song to, and what it would be?

I was just thinking about that last night. I was going to post links via Youtube in my deck descriotions.

I play my Kaalia deck deck:wings-of-the-witch-suggestions-wanted while listening to "Die Walkure," better known in America as "Flight of the Valkyries."

my edh is Kaalia, and I was considering Ride of the Valkyries, lololol. Glad I opted for something else.

Well I enjoy building decks to music. When I built Cowl Of The Dark Knight, I was listening to Kashmir by Led Zepplin on repeat.

wow, there is some serious discussion here, i didn't expect that! anyway, musefreak14 and everyone else that reads this forum: I mean your own decks. my main deck, Trolling modern tournaments near you! Mk.2 would have to be Hero by Skillet. When i built the deck, that was the song I was obsessed with here is the youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9x2CHQClTU. for my deck I will not Bow the theme song is I Will not Bow by Breaking Benjamin.

thanks. Do you think yeaGO! would make this an actual article if I asked him? I believe this could breathe new life into some older decks people have.

Maybe, if you formed into some sort of Thesis or Question. There could be a connection made between deckbuilding for art and flavor, and music that inspires us to build what we hear. You have to challenge the reader to open thier mind and not build just to win, Sometimes the build has to be a story. Or a picture. Go all Trippy 70's Life guru on thier minds.

Haha, I can do that. I do take a more visionary or mad-scientist view on decks and ideas. a couple of my decks, Innistrad Corrupted and Birth of the Destroyer have actual stories, while these two decks have songs. I have one noob question tho- how do you start an article? I can't seem to figure out how.

That is a good question that I don't have answer too, Ha. I think you have to ask yeaGO! to feature after some blah-de-da stuff that has to be done.
There is a process. Not sure how to get the process to start though.

My Szadek, Lord of Secrets deck would inevitably tuned to "O Fortuna".
At least for my opponents.
For me, it would sound more like "Baby" by Justin Bieber.

I created a Rpg here on Tappedout, QUEST MAGIC: The Mtg RPG!, and I've picked up a few excellent songs for the game, it might actually resemble the type of "Mtg deck soundtrack" you're talking about. There's the complete list of songs I used in the game on the game's last page, check it out: HALL OF FAME. (if you're interested in playing the game, go for it! But there are spoilers on that last page, so youve been warned ;)

oh okay, i'm currently working through the game, so i'm not going to look at the page. But yeah, what you have is very similar to what i'm talking about here. It just adds life to the deck and gives it a soul, you know? makes it more than a pile of cards. :-)

Youre playing my game? Cool! I want to know what you think, give me some feedback :)
I love your idea of associating music with decks, I always did that with D&D characters. . Its the flavor that I dig in Mtg. My friends and I we've created many decks that represent our D&D character and manga characters. Youre right, Mtg can be so much more than just a card game. Lately my friends and I have a new useless (but fun loll) goal: were trying to build a deck that would represent our "fantasy self", the person we would be if we existed in a fantasy story. Its ridiculously hard to do, seriously, try it loll :)

Great thread topic. I agree, magic my decks are kinda like little 60 card stacks of me. I'm a stickler for trying to keel my decks as themed as possible. They look so much cooler than the decks thrown together for just the win. I think y'all both have great ideas. And +1 for trying to keep the game creative and not just about winning.

Are you asking for our own decks or for yours?
My EDH deck would probably have Palladio, Dies Irae, and other epic classical pieces.
Actually, I think all of my decks would go well with classical.
My faeries would something that started out slow then got big and crescendos- Clare de Lune into The Sorcerer's Apprentice sounds good.
My vampires would DEFINITELY be Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor- thats the one thats played at the beginning of all of those creepy transylvania movies...
