Divinity of Pride or Starseer Mentor?

I have two copies of Divinity of Pride in my black and white casual/60-card deck, but I am contemplating replacing them with two copies of Starseer Mentor, because, as great as the divinity is, it is merely a flying beater, whereas the mentor has a very nice ability, so I would like to ask everyone else here for advice on this situation.

What does everyone else say about this? Should I replace Divinity of Pride with Starseer Mentor?

5 mana is a very high amount for a 1v1 game, and is in the range where you want whatever you cast to have some kind of massive immediate impact.

Personally I would run neither, Divinity comes down too late to be a reliable beater (especially when you have no reliable way to ensure you’ll be above 25 life), and Starseer is just soo incredibly slow, durdly, and ”do nothing” for its mana cost.

I would sooner replace this slot with more interaction, something your deck sorely needs, but also something you’ll desperately want so that you can slow the game down long enough to profit from the Deathbringer Liege you’rec running.

As a fool, I would split it half and half. Keep them guessing.

wallisface, in that case, I shall need to deliberate the matter, so that I can find a replacement for the divinities.

DemonDragonJ just as food-for-thought and/or inspiration, if I were making low-budget Deathbringer Liege deck, it’d look something like this:

You’d probably want 2-3 lands being either Shambling Vent or Restless Fortress as I imagine these games going very grindily and more threats being needed

wallisface, those are definitely some great suggestions, but what about Kambal, Consul of Allocation? Do you think that he is a good creature for a black/white deck?

DemonDragonJ Kambal, Consul of Allocation is definitely a decent card, but very matchup dependent - for example if your opponent is playing a creature-heavy stompy deck he'll do almost nothing. It's also worth noting that if your opponent is a spell-heavy deck they'll likely have some form of interaction to deal with him, so he'll often be 3 mana for a single drain effect (and then dead).

If you're playing with sideboards I think there's definitely value in including 1-2 of him there. I'd be wary of including him mainboard as he's just soo situational in his practicality (he's greatest against decks that are doing a lot of card-draw spells or storm effects, for example).
