dual lands of old or dual lands of new

with the scars spoiler showing 5 new dual lands, i am seeing what everyone thinks about the new lands vs the old, do you run one of them, or do you run both. lets just look at the old lands first.
the old lands entered tapped unless you controlled one of the two types it created. this could occsionally slow you down on turn one or two based on the deck you ran and your opening hand.
now the new lands, they enter untapped as long as you control 2 or fewer other lands, so that gives you usable mana on turn one and helps you in early play, however in later play they come in tapped so you may need to wait an extra turn or two to drop you 5, 6, and higher converted cost creatures.
what does everyone one think, the old, the new, or both?
depends on the deck. If you're running 3 or more colours, I'd probably go with more of the scars duals, since they make it more likely that you'll have all your colours early. with 2 colours, it really depends on the deck - I expect to see UW control and Valakut using m11 duals, and R/B or R/G aggro, for example (which are both potential new archetypes), would use scars duals for early fixing.
Running full sets of both is somewhat risky, as the Scars duals don't help the m11 duals come into play untapped and you have to have a large number of basics to make the m11 duals work.

My favorite duel lands are the ones from Shadowmoor and Eventide.
Fire-Lit Thicket being an example from shadowmoor and Rugged Prairie being an example from Eventide.

The core set ones are better in general, I'd say, seeing as it's not uncommon to have a basic land already in play when you play them. Plus, they don't come into play tapped when you get them later in the game.
As for my preference, I prefer the original dual lands, haha.

Yes, well everyone know the original dual lands are the best, btu I'm talking practicality. I'm not spending over $40 for a land, let a lone any card really. :P

I think i am inclined to use a mix of new and old. I like the new ones especially for agressive decks, and i do love some agressive decks!
Depending on deck i could even see 3 of each.

Actually i take that back... i am unlikely to use the new lands except in a situation where i have lots of non basic lands, (meaning the old will come in tapped any way) or where i have an agressive deck. Otherwise i will probably not use them in favor of man lands when possible as my dual land.

The only new dual lands likely to see play will be the green/red ones. That 1 drop goblin plus some +1/+1 counter adding well make pinging players a big threat :)
The other use will be Devastating Summons . But that's just my 2 cents worth.

If you are running a fast multi color aggro deck use the new duals. If you are running control use the core set duals. Simple as that!

I was really disappointed when I saw the new lands.... they'll be good for one format potentially - EDH.
Maybe alright for mana fixing in prerelease/draft??

I was kind of disappointed too, because they were actually pretty slow.
For example, blackcleave-cliff, a rare, is only marginally better than Urborg Volcano , an uncommon.
They'll at least be usable in EDH, as honeymomo stated.

@omgyoav You seem to think the only types of dual lands are these new ones and the core set. There's way more and much better.
Examples:
Secluded Glen (I know, these lands are only useful for certain tribal decks, but I know at least honeymomo should like these lands)
Graven Cairns (my personal favorite)
Arcane Sanctum (for certain 3 color decks)
These are just representative lands from each set, not the specific land.

YEAH! Secluded Glen is the nuts! I use it with faeries all the time :D Revealing isn't too bad 'cause then they know what they're going to be eating later hohohoho~*

it depends how many colors you are running. if you are mainly one color with a splash of another, you might wanna go scars duals. but if you are more 50/50 then core set duals are for you

I was looking at an MTG database, and a found a card called Island Sanctuary. A couple days later, I was talking to my brother when he brought up a card called Mystic Decree. I remembered Island Sanctuary, and, theoretically saying, nobody could attack you unless you drew a card on your upkeep. Has anyone else noticed this, because this can lead to a very nice combo.

It's been noticed so much that it was the joke in a Friday Nights video.

The problem is that most pillowfort decks in formats like EDH prioritize cards that are worth their weight without other cards. Those are nice, but you could just play Moat and leave it at that.
