I'm always curious as to what flavour texts people are drawn to. There are a lot of deep ones and silly ones.

The following is my favourite flavour text:

"Baby dragons can't figure out humans-if they didn't want to be killed, why were they made of meat and treasure?" - Furnace Whelp

Let me know!~

LOL, I pre-ordered 2 playsets at 2.50 each. Not trolling. I already traded the other set when they hit 10. One to stock, and one to rock.

But really, I thought they would have just stayed at around 6. 10 seemed kind of high, so I dumped them. Now they are 15... smh. By the way, it IS that good. If I have that shit in my hand, and you have some dude or PW that I dont want to deal with... BOOM... Downfall, son. Garlicide doesn't fuck around with no bullshit. Thats how he wins games.

If you have em, sell or trade them now, that be pure hype value.

Remember when Dreadbore was an expensive card.

It probably won't drop as low, but let's be real Murder is still a viable option.

Actually i don't think it was reprinted, but my point was that there is a lot of mono-black removal, even more if your running more colours, this is not an auto include 4 of in each deck. They will fall down...

Pun intended.

Yo, I pre ordered two sets of Desecration Demon when they were spoiled at 2.99. I bought 3 more playlets when they were at like, a dollar. I need to get into the stock market. When D Demon hit 7 bucks I started waiving those dudes around, and people started just handing shit out so they can have that "junk" rare from RTR.

Schuesseled, I understood why dreadbore was 7.99 when it was spoiled... it was the first time there was any real PW hate. But what nobody saw coming was that Jund would only run like, 1 Main. People ran Abrupt decay over Dreadbore just because of Liliana of the veil... ahh those were the days.

Dude, I am running three right now main board. They are pretty dope. I am not going to lie, I was skeptical... but I have seen the light.

Schuesseled says... #6

Yes, they are okay, especially in a mostly black deck. But for jund, you have putrefy, abrupt decay and dreabore, there all cheaper might as well use them. :P

And good dealings with that ol' demon, just goes to show you people can't ever be arsed to think about what they want to play post-rotation. If they were planning on black-ish midrange, they'd already have got a playset before the price change.

@ gnarlicide I'm asking you for advice on what to invest in. I severely underestimated D Demon, AND Hero's D, and now that I needed them have had to pay out the butt for them. And now I need 2 more downfalls, but I sure don't want to spend no $15 on them. And the demons hit $13 now, freakin crap!

Also Schuesseled, the Putrefy comes in handy in junk too, but doesn't do the job of the downfall when it comes to PW removal. And those PWs are freakin everywhere right now.

Shit Happens right, i bought two xenagos for over 40 bucks, decided imnot going to use them anymore, and bought two stormbreaths for the same amount. Now will I be able to make back my 40 buckeroos, i highly doubt it.

Call me old fashioned but i use creatures to kill my opponents and when they die their pw's cease to matter.

Plus ze mighty Whip of Erebos is the bane of my meta at the moment, so Putrefy is still a good choice ;).

ShadowLand, I can give some advice when the next set starts getting spoiled. Hell, maybe even after a few more weeks. Right now, since Dark Ascension was spoiled, I have been about 75% correct. My top 3 biggest spoiler wins came from Falkenrath Aristocrat and Boros Reckoner (which spoiled at about 3 bucks and later jumped to 30). I missed out on Bonfire of the Damned, though, I spent all my money on Champion of Lambholt

Schuesseled we are on the same page there, that's pretty much been my entire focus since rotation. And speaking of pricing I'm pretty irritated that the Whip of Erebos was in an event deck, which means it will never hit the $7-$10 it's worth for what it does.

but yeah, if you want Schuesseled, check out my Whipstacular deck since you've been whip brewing yourself and let me know what you think

Putrefy is a great card, dont get me wrong. And I run a few of them because of their usefulness.

By the way, my 3rd biggest spoiler win was Liliana of the Veil . They were around 10 dollars after a little bit, and I got as many as I could. Then when they hit 60, I dumped them. I dumped so many Lilys, that I forgot to keep 4 of them... now I feel dumb.

The best advice I can give anyone during spoiler season is to NOT invest in Walkers. Always a bad idea. If a set has three, only one will retain, and it's hard to tell which one it will be. Invest in creatures. Historically, creatures are what make the game of Magic. Instants and Sorceries are hit or miss usually. You have to look at what cards are rotating out to see what will take it's place. In my case, the last standards most powerful decks, (jund midrange and reanimator) lost 4 creatures, 2 removal cards and the second one lost all of its really good creatures and its generators to reanimate. With that said, you have to fill the void. Begin looking at cards like that. "Murder is gone, hmmm something that costs the same and does basically the same thing.... Oh shit, Hero's Downfall"

That's how I do it.

I pulled one, and ordered one at $5. It would be nice to have a third but I am content

@Schuesseled --- I find this inflation amusing to say the least. As soon as I saw the spoilers for Theros, I saw gray merchant and said, I'm gonna do a 'budget' mono black midrange deck. Bought 4 desecrations at 2 each, 4 nightveil specter at 50 cents each, and 4x downfalls at 4 bucks each. Now it's not a budget deck. Currently, that's $34 for the demons, $25 for the specters, and $56 for the downfalls.

On one side, I'm very happy. On the other, I still hate netdeckers...

Schuesseled says... #17

Nicely done, i would still class it as a budget deck, seeing as you didn't have to pay the full price.

i have a foil heros downfall. sell it now or keep it?

perrin515 says... #19

Straight up, I have 3 (2 reg, 1 Foil) Should I dump these or keep them? I mean, yes $15 each is a lot, but do we really see them dropping soon?

October 22, 2013 11:05 a.m.

gnarlicide says... #20

Wait two weeks. If it goes up a little, dump em. If they start to drop, dump em. But give it a little more time. Then after they free fall, down to like 5 or 6. Buy yourself a set. This idea is not new. It's commodity trading, basic economics.

I pulled 3 Sensei's Divining Top from Kamigawa back when that was the Standard series. My younger and more un-experienced self looked at them and went like "Meh, that's a pretty lousy card... But at least it's an artifact for 1. I'll put it in my artifact deck".

That artifact deck did not run Cranial Plating or any other card that cared about number of controlled artifacts. Except a singleton of Master of Etherium .

Yeah I sucked at deckbuilding back then.
