I know it's real early to be talking about it, but I am so excited! Simic and Orzhov make their appearance :) I wonder who will be popping up this time around :3
What are you guys wishing for the most out of Gatecrash? Me, I want to see Kiora finally appear. She HAS to! I hope she has some kind of epic ramping powers too :)

I didnt think forecast was a complete failure... look at Sky Hussar , a n extra card each turn... the upkeep part sucked though. It sucked bad...

Okay you get an extra card, but you have to tap creatures before you can draw. Now that leaves you not only vulnerable to attacks, but stops you from really utilizing any tap abilities those creatures have. On top of that, your opponent now knows that you have that card, killing any form of bluff a control deck can pack with open mana.
It would have been a good ability if the amount of costs to use it were reduced.

I don't know if it would be a good fit for any of the remaining guilds but a fun mechanic would be something that makes a card cease to exist. I mean beyond exiling. Exiled cards can come back (Oblivion Ring , Runic Repetition , etc.) and trigger LTB effects. The mechanic I am thinking about completely removes a card from existence and doesn't trigger LTB effects.

I doubt something that powerful will ever get made. It is already hard enough to return stuff from exile, let alone make something that does it permanently in an aggro format.

Phasing already does that, it's just always temporary. That would be interesting to see come around again, though. I liked it as a mechanic, but that's probably bias from starting to play just a couple years before that time.

If dimir damage is the real new ability I really hope Dimir Doppelganger gets reprinted. Even though people are probably going to start running creatureless decks at that point x_x

 I used to use that in my old mill deck. Nemesis of Reason died? Mkay, exile it and now Dimir Doppelganger is one :D Or I'd do it with Platinum Angel .
October 16, 2012 5:56 p.m.
Nemesis of Reason gave me an idea that could be the new Dimir mechanic. It still doesn't fit with Transmute but something like "Ability X (When this creature attacks defending player puts X cards from the top of his or her library into his or her graveyard.)" I makes it a little less broken since cards like Wild Beastmaster with a bunch of creatures with straight out damage=mill would be insane. It also keeps the creatures more relevant with them still doing actual damage.

But as someone else already pointed out, you're more viable to win through damage than mill. That is why I think it'd be a replacement effect like infect. Instead of damage defending player mills that many cards.
October 16, 2012 6:30 p.m.
Oh, I guess it could also be "When this creature deals combat damage to a player that player puts X cards from the top of his or her library into his or her graveyard."

If so they might all be low powered creatures, otherwise it once again defeats the purpose of mill.
October 16, 2012 6:37 p.m.
Well if it's straight damage=mill and they put it on monoblue cards then Simic would be brutal. I play my Craterhoof Behemoth with 3 1/1 mill creatures and Wild Beastmaster in play. Beastmaster and mill creatures become 6/6 I attack and Beastmaster makes my mill creatures 12/12 for 36 trample mill damage.

Well U/B seems to have the best when it comes to removal, so I think there will be a lot more counter/kill spells coming in GateCrash. I hope we get a B/U board wipe o3o

Cirdan13 has the right idea. People are speculating about a mechanic being "bad" without knowing the cards that will be in the set. These are probably the same people who swore up in down that when Rootborn Defenses was spoiled early that populate was fake and there was NO WAY Wizards would release something like that. Thinking about future mechanics with only the current card pool is completely pointless. There could be Dimir cards that say Exile target cards from graveyard and do X. Kind of like Deathrite Shaman . Don't call a mechanic underpowered before you see what cards are in the set. Scavenge is the Golgari mechanic, but Corpsejack Menace doesn't say scavenge on it anywhere but still interacts with the ability. Don't judge amechanic before you see the cards that go with it.

All I know is that my BUG mill deck is going to be alot of fun

It's definitely not 3 in each set. Modern design limits it to five per block, as far as I'm aware, as a result of them not wanting to exhaust the already very small Planeswalker design space.
Probably Gideon and another in Gatecrash and then a visitor in sinker.

what i've heard is simic is going to have a creature pumping ability. the guils all have their special mechanic like detain or unleashed. Simic's is supposed to be Evolution. whenever you lay a creature with a higher (either toughness or power not sure which might be both) then this creature gets a +1/+1 counter.

this thingy here. could be fake but apparently wizards has started hiding gatecrash cards in rtr packs now as spoilers

some more possible fakes

Wizards didn't "hide" anything, this is another mistake by the printer of the same kind that made a copy of Rootborn Defenses show up in an Avacyn Restored booster earlier this year. A print run of Gatecrash was followed up by a supplemental print run of RtR, and one of the hoppers in the sorting/collating machine wasn't completely cleaned out during the changeover.

Yeah Forecast sucked. It would have been awesome, had it not been for the ridiculous costs of it ._. Reveal, and pay mana, AND do it before you draw but after you untap?! BLASPHEMY!
