Hours looking for Tokens

I just spent a couple of hours going through my cards, getting Tokens out for two decks I have in a set.

Your idea of a good time, or not?

I always have fun looking through my cards.

I love going through my boxes. That’s one of the main steps of building a deck, just trolling through everything one card at a time. It’s probably why so many of my cards are in the shape they are...

I keep my tokens separate, but I always have a good time going through my boxes. I actually spent a few hours reorganizing them a couple of weeks ago and pulling out bulk cards that I have like seven copies of. It hits that sweet spot of relaxing and stimulating.

I keep my Tokens at the front of the box, for the set there are in.

To me that makes them easier to find.

I only organize my boxes according to color (with a box for artifacts, one for multicolor, and one for lands) that way I have to go through EVERYTHING if I’m looking for something. It’s glorious.

FormOverFunction approximately how many cards do you think you have?

I’ve only got about two 800-card boxes worth of each color, so probably under 10k cards.

Still a fair amount to sort through.

It’s just the right amount, really. It’s a weird combination of relaxing and engaging, where I’m soaking comfortably in the hot tub of MtG art and mechanics while also keeping in mind the theme or goal that I’ve got for the day. I don’t want to put words in your mouth, Argy, but I bet you’ve been in that hot tub too. All of us, really.

I'm not criticising.

I put all of my tokens in a smaller trade binder, alphabetically, and sleeved so I can easily pull them out during games. I also have a stack of laminated “blank cards” and just use a dry erase marker to make them on the fly. That has been the easiest way to pull tokens without delaying the game.

I'm particular about my Tokens, because I personally feel it is polite to turn up to a game with everything I can to make it clear for my opponents.

I don't want them to lose to me, because they didn't realise I have a Red 3/3 Dragon coming at them.

I’ve got a stack of deck-specific illustrated/colored-in tokens that my kids made; 5/5 djinn for my Bottle of Suleiman, tokens illustrating bribery for my antique shop, spirits for my haunted house, etc. It’s awesome. I always approve of people’s homemade tokens!
