How Much Influence Do the Players Have Over this Game?

WotC makes Magic: the Gathering, but they rely on money from the customers to make it, so I feel that we should have some level of influence over what cards are printed. I certainly am not saying that the players should be allowed to design entire sets (although that would be awesome), but I do dislike how WotC is so mysterious and secretive, not revealing much about their processes and products until after they are released, or shortly before that, so I want to be certain that customers can influence WotC’s decisions, so that we can get what we desire.
What does everyone else say about this? How much influence do the customers have over what products WotC produces?

TypicalTimmy, how, exactly, does WotC conduct research to learn the opinions of the players? Through surveys on their website and social media, I presume?

@Funkydiscogod - That's not necessarily a problem. If there are no new customers then the game dies. Does it suck that they devote more and more products for new players rather than loyal ones? Sure does... but it's a necessary evil for the longevity of the game.
@OP - I question a LOT of shit Hasbro does, but the 'secrecy' of their design process isn't one of 'em. They reveal stuff late so the hype is still there and they save on marketing... this benefits us all. They wouldn't eat the cost for marketing to increase interest over the long term, we the players would with increased pack prices.
