Anyone caring to digress any decks they are thinking of going with?
Are ya's going with one of the par 5 or gonna bring something new to the board?
Just wondering what the general thought is of folk out there who maybe getting prep'd...
Well, I'm still toying with either Hydra-Fall or g/b-beetlebug for the National Qualifiers... I've got a really cheap version of Polymorph made up, but not using any Jace's... Only came back onto the scene and been away since Invasion block thus looking into deck building again for fun but sod it, ya don't do things by half if your gonna do it at all.
Still, gonna get some playtesting and thoughts ironed out with the folk in the local gaming shop and see what they say about the 2 decks.

some deck playing Lorescale Coatl, Lotus Cobra, Birds of Paradise, Jace MS, Garruk, Noble Hierarch and aiming for a 4th turn Ovverun for game. Although I am unsure which colour I will play as my third.

Well, I fluffed National Qualifiers... but only because I didn't realise something about the deck that could have made for a much different game.
The majority of enchantments I was using were Aura's which had Totem Armour. Which mean't that Wrath effects would only take out the totem armour and NOT the creatures. I was thinking about this on my way to work afterwards and realised my mistake and (probably) my opponents sigh of releif as I was constantly putting Aura enchanted creatures intot he graveyard...
How feckin' stupid am I? :)

Well, there's always grinders, and 2 months before that kicks off, so LCG time it is. I think I'm gonna enjoy the deck more so now.
For anyone wondering what I'm wafflin' about, the deck in question is Hydra-Fall
At least I'll have some time to work out the creature/mana flow issues (hopefully) by then.

So I've pretty much decided I'm going to play Bursting with Vigor at a PTQ on June 12th (in NJ). There's a remote chance I'll play Mythic Conscription (probably with some strange and interesting variations), but I'm not expecting to.

ended up coming half way up the tables in the end, made some silly mistakes tho. As it goes I beat the two beat decks that I played against! An awesome Jund deck and a super-fast vengevine based deck. Helped me realise my deck Venerated Ascension is at least a little competitive!

Went 5-3 at a PTQ today. Not bad. Didn't do well out of the gate though, which was disappointing.
June 12, 2010 7:51 p.m.
Ahh 5-3 is better than I did!~ GG! The deck that won in my area was Planeswalker Pals with a mix of Brilliant Ultimatum.

The Reforged Sixth Shard went 3-2 at a comp yesterday. It sucks. My Vamp it up played by l0ki came second at 4-1. Top eighted and only lost games due to play mistakes.

Well, the PTQ happened in Dublin but I was unable to make it to the venue. A Beastmaster Ascension deck made it to the final, but land lock screwed it over which was a shame. Still, if anything... No one was prepared for it!

@meruhanot
You were at the Edison, NJ PTQ? Congrats on the 5-3; I went 3-5 there. I came in kind of late and had to forfeit my first game, but I took the match 2-1 before slopping around for the rest of the day. What decks did you see?

Yeah, I was :-). I played Bursting with Vigor, but I didn't feel like I did too well because of poor draws in the early games.
0-2 Mythic Bant 1-2 Super Friends (really got terrible draws here, this matchup is normally a joke) 2-1 Elves 2-0 Jund 1-2 Mythic Bant (I feel like I should have won this one. All three games were very very close) 2-0 Polymorph 2-1 White Weenie 2-1 Next Level Bant (this was a great, great matchup. Tons of fun)
What did you see?

I got eaten alive by poor planning on my part and really bad draws on Jund... the list below is what I saw, but bcs898 faired much better- he was 9th before the last round and came in 13th overall using the deck Bantscription. I ran American Janktron minus Wall of Omens and Linvala, Keeper of Silence . It was weird, but I actually had great success using the Lodestone Golem to get that little bit of an edge in some games, and it even housed the first game of the match against w/u control. I had a great grinder of a match against that kid, but my planeswalkers and sphinx took over lategame in the 3rd.
2-1 against Devastating Red
2-0 against Jund
0-2 against Jund
0-2 against Cruel Control
2-1 against W/U Control
1-2 against NLB
0-2 against Jund
1-2 against NLB

Edit: I didn't have any baneslayers in my build either- a lotta shared cards between bcs898 and he only had the 4 he used in his deck

Whoa, wait a second. I think we were sitting next to each other in round 5. I was watching your game against u/w control..?!? I beat the kid with the polymorph deck really fast and then watched your game?

Really? I was the guy with the fedora. Game one I swept with Lodestone Golem in like seven or eight turns but didn't show red until games 2 and 3 to beat down with my planeswalkers. I remember you tanked the kid across from you pretty fast too- Funny that!

Yeah, i watched you! So strange :-). Congrats to your friend on the 6-2, that's pretty sweet.

Yeah- it was great actually. My first PTQ, didn't have my deck built til the round started, had never played it before, and it was missing pieces. I was thrilled to house my first round even if I lost so much after. It was good to see bcs898 do well though- He's been after some decent results for a while now.
June 18, 2010 1:39 p.m.
I didn't go so well at the PTQ but a kid of about 11 turned up and went undefeated until the top eight.

All I know is that I will be playing 4 Mana Leak s.
Maybe I'll play some sort of aggressive blue green deck, but I'll most likely end up playing a UW control deck of sorts.

Went to the PTQ in chicago with a Next Level Bant variant, and ended up 5-3. Not bad, but loosing twice to Jund hurt.

I have narrowed my deck down to either Dagobah Combo and PTQ U/W WorldQueller Control.

I'd just like to see opinions and ask if you believe my deck Golgari Strike is ready for competitive standard play or what could prepare it for standard play?
November 17, 2013 6:15 p.m.
No, lots of very bad unplayable cards and too many singletons to be viable and consistent.
merubhanot says... #2
I'll probably go with Bursting with Vigor or something like it if I can (still tweaking a little).
