New Deck Statistics?

Hey all,

This is your wish-list thread for telling me what kind of statistics you wish TappedOut had, but doesn't.

@merubhanot:

Yeah, I understand what you're saying. The reason they currently don't contribute to the land mana chart is because they don't actually produce any mana themselves. At one point, I did have them showing up on the chart, but then I came across two things that made me decide to remove them. First of all, I was seeing a lot of blue/white decks (for example) using Scalding Tarn s (again, for example). It was weird for me to see all these blue/white decks that appeared to produce red mana, when they actually didn't. Secondly, there are cards, such as Bant Panorama , that DO produce mana in addition to searching, which should be marked as producing colorless mana, rather than green, white, and blue mana.

That being said, I agree with you that there should be some way to indicate that they help with mana fixing. I'm just not sure what the best way to convey this would be.

So clearly my idea is the least important in regard to deck-building. I just think it would be fun, set tappedout further above any other mediocre MTG sites and it wouldn't be too difficult to implement seeing as the program is basically already written. To save the server from more work you could even update these stats on a time interval.

yeaGO!

Event Reporting doesn't seem to be working. I can add events but then they do not show up on the shop's page. I tried this yesterday on my phone but was unable to add my deck placement to the event I created which had disappeared by this morning.

hi there, thanks a lot for your post.

i found a bug so your events would display.

just to explain the changes, i refactored the events system because in my opinion it was too complicated for simple things. i checked out your events and they are all passed, i was hoping to get events in there beforehand so people could find them through the site. all it was good for before was reporting on people's deck status.

that part is left out. i did add a new 'venue' field to the Deck Update form as you've discovered. it will post your deck to the venue's page. do you think i should add an event field too? Feedback welcome.

I did enjoy being able to link my deck updates to the actual event. Adding an event field would be nice. For IQ's, Opens, Max Point series, and other tournaments the top 8 should be shown, for FNMs it could be nice but is not necessary.

I'm all for trying to get events in ahead of time to promote attendance and even arrange some real life T/O meet ups. I initially tried to use it this way but realized it was geared towards reporting results at the time. I like the changes and think they'd be better if the results reporting was still included.

I spend a decent amount of time on that area of the site as a regular tournament player and would be interested in helping you test out changes and getting it user friendly for the community so they can start taking advantage of this awesome feature.

P.S. I also noticed the Community Page is way out of date when searching for users near me.

cool, that's a part of the site that I really love and have had high hopes for. its been through a few incarnations but its not there yet. almost... thanks for joining the brainstorm.

how is the community page out of date? is it simply that the users there aren't active anymore? I was thinking about merging them both so that you could search one map for users to play with or for events to attend.

so, the flow for reporting results is awkward.... should I have the results populate as part of a deck-update or at the event on the meets section... or both... or neither. do people add their own decks as placements exclusively? can you tag other decks and if so how.... you can see what a mess it presents

When I try to enter my shop's FNM details, I get the error "FNM types should be set to Friday," but that's exactly what I have: Type is "FNM" with the Weekly Event as "Friday".

Now it's requiring a Start Date, even though it's a recurring thing.

You also might want to check the End Date code while you're at it :)

Got it submitted! You rock!

Community page's stats haven't changed since I took note of them. I was also under the impression that Epoch was the Community Manager. Merging the maps seems like a good idea.

How complicated would it be to have the results populate from both? Logically I can understand both as a starting place but if I had to choose it'd be from the deck update. Most users do a deck update at some point and if there is a field to link it to an event they might be more apt to take notice. I'd say keep reporting to users for their own deck as it could minimize incorrect information being submitted. Encourage external links to results posted on the hosting shop's site, SCG decklists, and etc with a field to link them on the event's page.

Update from my deck displayed on the venue Game Heroes meets page formatting is messed up.
