Hey everybody, just a quick fun trivial kinda question that I'm sure someone out there can answer quickly:
What year/in which set was the "Satanic" upside-down burning pentagram in background of Unholy Strength removed??
Bonus points if you can tell me whether decision was voluntary/internal or was influenced by outside source/group.

Yes but it was more fun (for me anyway) to have you answer it for me instead : D
Seriously, thank yoo, Argy!

I didn't answer your question.
Google did.
Apparently ... that's your idea of "fun".
Each to their own.

For anyone following along:
Alpha: Unholy Strength
Fourth Edition: Unholy Strength
The Fourth Edition one is so incredibly goofy looking. I love how clearly Wizards half-assed the removal of the pentagram, simply painting over the background, rendering the artwork nonsensical.

@cdkime lol yeah that compare/contrast really does make the art nonsensical... Glad that they eventually gave it the art we see today Unholy Strength especially with the ying-yang concept with Holy Strength.

The original art in Unholy Strength featured a pentagram, considered to be a symbol for the occult and suggestive of demonic themes, and, as of 4th Edition and subsequent reprinted versions, it had been removed. It was the result of pressure from various groups against the demonic and satanic themes and christian groups started to complain about how Magic: The Gathering was introducing young defenceless minds to the influence of the devil; such groups caused enough of a stir that Wizards of the Coast also stopped producing creatures of the subtype "Demon" for several years.
Took five seconds to Google.
