There she goes...

The title should be RIP 1v1 Brawl on MTGO, but hey. I think this is normal and expected, people are excited about rotation and are hesitant about building a brawl deck for 1v1 that will soon be obsolete.

Rotation is by far the biggest obstacle for the format. Lets see how it gets through it.

The lack of support in MTGO will have it's effect on the already fading kitchen table community. Same fate as Frontier. This is just the last push.

Rotation and EDH don't go hand in hand indeed.

I agree, it is a bad sign, but I am trying to point out despair is not the only option. Not all formats need WOTC support - Pauper - and not all WOTC supported formats - Extended in its last few years, Block constructed since forever, heck Legacy is dwindling in attendance - so having WOTC support is not something obligatory for the format.

EDH was super popular prior to WOTC supplementing products and interest only increased from there.

Now that I wrote that, Magic does seem to have a problem with rotating formats, while non-rotating ones are doing much better.

But I finally built a brawl deck! Lol just kidding, that never happened. Its funny to me that its rotating out of existence with its first official set rotation. Not a long lived format. Although I'm glad they apparently designed cards for the next few sets with brawl in mind to support the format because it means more commander style cards being made.

All the guild leaders scream 'designed with brawl in mind', ie not too powerful, but actually boring. Ral and Vraska are unexciting walkers, average at best. Lazav is 2 1/3 with a unique ability, so not too powerful, given you cannot feed your yard easily in brawl. Trostani and Aurelia are just plain boring.

All of them are ideal brawl commanders.

In other news, my Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh is rotating out, which sucks. Meanwhile, Muldrotha, the Gravetide continues to be the best commander ever for brawl and GRN did not change that. And this is a format where Teferi, Hero of Dominaria can be your commander, which is stupidly broken in 1v1.

Still, I will give brawl a whirl once more with GRN if my playgroup is up for it.

Berry the only problem with extended is it makes standard and modern more expensive and both those formats are already to expensive to play competitively
