I have a merfolk deck but i've got that my deck is going nowhere.

I don't know if it is going to a full attack or to a full control deck. the last time i've played magic it was in the onslaught time and i'm a bit lost with my new deck. If you could help i'll be happy :D

playtest, playtest, playtest! you seem to have an aweful lot of creatures, i see definate vulnerability to mass creature removal (Wrath of God ish) unless you get more counterspells for safety. Grimoire Thief is a perfect example of combining aggro with control, merfolk decks also have amazing land control options to lock the other guy out of useable mana, like Tideshaper Mystic , Reef Shaman and card:Aquitect's Will. These can also double as ways to send big islandwalk fishies through unblocked, consider Lord of Atlantis (cliche, I know...)

most important, the 7-9 rule: the major themes of any deck (beatdown and control in your case) need 7-9 cards of each theme to be reliable, consider a few more counterspells, perhaps?

other than that, you have some great card choices! compare to my tournament merfolk deck, Fishdom. I've always loved merfolk for having great beatdown AND great control in the same decks, I think you would have more fun finding a nice balance between the 2. best of luck!

You gotta come up with better names... be clever. That's how to get +1/+1. Also, do things that no one has ever seen. Be creative. Advertise new combos. Get an upgraded account. Do you only play modern? +1/+1 yourself. Make jokey decks, and then advertise your good decks at the bottom of the description to your other decks. Be funny in your description. whether that is through gifs or worldplay. Also, check your decks again.

Take advantage of Deck cycling.

Also, read Epoch's guide that can be found on his page, called "How to get more views on your decks"

Rhino's right! every deck must be blinged out.

Pro tip: you don't need to actually own every card in every deck you make on here.

haha tis true. And if you wanna get a lot of views make sure to mention that there will be a foil storm crow for whoever +1/+1 all your decks and a foil mutavault for whoever is the first person to +1 all of your decks.

You can link someones name, deck, and cards using double brackets. Use: [user:clowe304433] but with double brackets like so clowe304433.

Like those above me have said. Mainly be creative, at least half of the upvotes I have on my deck A Good Man Go To War (which has 200+ upvotes) is because of the doctor who references haha.

Upvotes don't always come fast either. Sometimes they come in spurts, it's weird. But being persistent is key.

Ha, I featured blood lite, maybe that'll get it some more views/ likes!

April 28, 2014 10:41 p.m.

If you get it into the top decks tab you can get like 5 a day or more. I randomly started getting tons of upvotes on one of my decks once it got into the top decks tab. I literally went from like 20 to 60 in one day.

How to get votes on this site:

1) Make a shitty deck featuring Storm Crow , because that's never been done before, and is therefore funny and not saturated humour at all.

2) Make a shitty homebrew modern/standard deck and pretend that it does well, going into great depth explaining your "tactics" and "tech", even though said deck might only stack up against the local meta or your mongrel-ass pack of friends.

3) Be or pretend to be a female, act rudely over the internet to men for no apparent reason, apply generous amounts of "~" at the end of sentences to appear coy and cute, and then make a shitty deck, while simultaneously getting sucked off by your disgusting, ravenous, oafish flock of carrion teat-sucking worthless gutter-slime followers who want your actual/pretend vagina.

Wow! Great! Neat! Success!

Now you're ready to be a Tappedout SUPERSTAR. Proceed to drink bleach.

Upvotes usually come pretty slowly. My highest rated deck, Eldrazi Bum-Rush, mainly got those upvotes from people who like the idea when I asked for feedback on it.

Jeez did an actual cobra crawl up your a$$ and die CrateofCobras? Or what?

Nah man, all of those things happen frequently, and with glee from those who continue to practice them.

1) Because memes aren't funny, aren't creative, and show a willingness to be force-fed "humour"

2) Because people seriously think that their decks are amazing,in a given format, with no actual analysis or consideration of the competitve format they're produced for, and they revel in their misguided masturbation. 9 times out of 10 they also resist legitimate criticism, which is why this site is here: to garner criticism.

3) This doesn't annoy you, does it little boy~

Now, because you've tried to shut down my exaggerated critique of the community with some good 'ol fashioned ad hominem, much akin to Fox News, I can only assume that you took it personally, perhaps having committed one of those sins, or knowing someone who does.

It'll be okay - I'm just poking fun.

April 29, 2014 12:11 p.m.

CrateofCobras too funny and all too true.

April 29, 2014 12:37 p.m.

@CrateofCobras: Nah man, didn't offend me one bit. Made me snicker a bit though. I've not noticed much of the stuff you complained about.

My original thought was why leave such a caustic comment on a new addition to the MTG community post. That was all. I'm hardly a little boy either ; )

April 29, 2014 1:09 p.m.

I also wasn't trying to "shut you down" I didn't see it as a "funny" post until you stated that in the second one. My bad. Just didnt want OP to become discouraged by it. Make sense?

My question is, why do upvotes matter? Why do people care if their deck has lots of views? I actually ask this honestly because it makes no sense to me. You can ask for help and feedback here in the deck help forum so it's not like the extra votes are there to help you improve. Just because a deck isn't popular doesn't make it good.

If it's criticism you seek, then ask and people will give their points. That said I pretty much glance only at standard since I don't play modern nor do I have enough knowledge on modern to really give helpful advice par the fact that Vexing Shusher is awesome and deserves to see more play in the new devotion decks that are beginning to rise.

I for example build decks that can be very powerful but are often quite hard to pilot. Obviously I have to exclude a couple of my more recent decks. My latest pauper build is pretty much impossible to misplay. You play a card, you draw a card, you tap a card, you draw a card, you play another card. Sometimes I can't be bothered thinking strategy when I head to FNM, especially after a week of Uni.

For the most part I agree with you. Some people try way to hard to get the upvotes that do not really even matter. However, I do think that it plays a small role in peoples unconscious decisions. Think about it, if you are looking for some advice on a medical decision where would you go, yahoo answers or webmd? Credibility.

In the same sense, if you are looking for some ideas on a manaless dredge deck which decks would you look at first? I am willing to bet the one with the more views and +1s. Also, if I see a deck in the feed I am more likely to at least take a look at the deck in comparison to the deck with 23 views and zero +1s. Its just attention, the more +1s and views the more attention is given to it, even if it is crap.

Anyways, people make too big a deal of getting +1s and think that means something big about their deck, which in all reality really means shit.
