Spell Snare question

Has anybody had any experience using spell snare in their mainboard for casual? There is a ton of cmc 2 but is it to situational many of the times? thanks.

I've playtested with it plenty. It's really not a mainboard card, in my experience, but there might be more people with more CMC 2 cards where you live.

Spell Snare seems to be useful. It would work against weenie rush and can also trip up certain artifact decks as well. but if you run into big mana based decks then it could prove slightly dead unless the opponent tries to counter anything your doing on your side of the board...

Can't see why it shouldn't be main board at all.. Works against some counterspells and certain key speed cards.

In the Card group where I am, aggro and speed decks are the meta. I see a lot of Terminate s, Counterspell s, Hymn to Tourach s, and the like. (we play legacy). If you know your meta, and it has a lot of C.M.C 2 drops, Spell Snare is incredibly handy. I use it in my Control Freak deck, and it has never failed to dissapoint.

i'd probably be tempted to play Dispel over it. But i can see that would probably be a bad move..

If I use Chandra, the Firebrand -2 ability to copy Wheel and Deal , will it make the players draw seven then discard and draw seven again? In turn making anything that deals dmg for discarding or drawing activate extra?

Yep, Two copies of Wheel and Deal go on the stack as if you had cast one then responded and cast another. Nekusar, the Mindrazer will trigger for 14 damage and your opponents will have only 7 cards.

Combine that with Helm of the Ghastlord and Elder Mastery for some real shenanigans. Not only do they discard 7 draw 7 discard 7 draw 7 but to cap that all off they have to discard the 7 they just drew as well essentially limiting them to instant speed spells only.

Two quick technical things:

First, rules questions should be asked in the Q&A.

Second, remember that triggered abilities trigger; they don't activate. Only activated abilities can be activated. If an ability happens when players draw or discard cards, it's a triggered ability.

Also note that your opponents will receive priority betweenthe resolution of those two Wheel and Deal , allowing them to cast wathever instant they just draw before discarding to the second wheel effect. But i guess you have a Forced Fruition , Kaervek the Merciless , Possibility Storm or Painful Quandary into play to prevent them from effectively casting stuff.

Errata on my last comment, none of those will "prevent" them from casting stuff... I would say "dissuade" is the right word

I've been trying to come up with a suitably compelling use for Forced Fruition for ages.

Eh, my issue with Forced Fruition is it's cmc.

It's a bomb. Every time i've resolved my foiled one, everyone hates me and treaten me of playing zur or uril next game....

The card in itself is opressive. Think of it this way, while Forced Fruition is on the field, every opponent are 10-12 spells away from milling.... Sure it makes them draw the answer, but the fact is, they have to answer fast... With nekusar i realy think the card is just brutal.

Also good memories of a night where no one answered it and people actualy got outside for a smoke while discarding.... At one point everyone was outside trying to figure out how to discard 20-25 cards.....
