Trade Binders!

Since we've got a trade binder option on our profiles now to add cards we're looking for/offering to trade, I was just curious to see how many people actually intend to trade online.
Ideally people like to trade in person because that reduces risk of being scammed and not receiving the cards you want back in the mail, but we've got a pretty good community here, so I think it's worth trying.
I wanted to know who was interested in this kind of internally to see if we could somehow use a feedback or scoring system on TappedOut, like if you traded with someone and how easy it was and whether or not you'd trade with them again, or if in the worst case scenario, you never got your cards and what happened.
Obviously we need to cover all trading expenses ourselves as the trade binder is just a feature here; I don't think TappedOut is advocating any kind of trust or trading and is in no way liable or responsible for our trades or cards in the event something happened.
I just figured it might warm people up to the idea of trading here if we all commented on one another if/when we decide to trade. If someone gets a bad rep for poor trade behaviour and conduct then the rest of us know to exclude them and kind of look out for one another.
What do you think?
Mostly, its just an experiment. On sunday I was looking around at mtg trading websites and I thought they were all horrible and could be done way better. No community, no structure, a breeding ground for thieves.
I think on Tapped it would be different. Maybe I'll limit it to only friends. Maybe it'll get big and I'll move it elsewhere (I don't want trade-drama spilling into the community). Who knows. =)

I like the idea of making a trade option available.
I think that one option Could perhaps be that only premium members have the option of trading between other premium members, since these are the sort of people who support the community and would immediately have a higher rating and level of trust.
ultimately it is down to the users themselves. I mean I could quite easily offer to trade cards with any other member via wall posts and or comments, but I would always look to the premium members first anyway.

anyone local can have the few cards I actually own. I konly play draft or online. i sold everything Alpha - Weatherlight a while ago, but I have some cards from Fifth Dawn or Ravnica Block from drafts lying around. Or pay to ship and they are yours.

Squire. I'm gonna do the same thing. You should just list some of them in your tradebinder and explain your policy. =)

The Trade Binder idea would be cool if members are living in the same neck of the woods, otherwise, shipping, quality etc would be a concern to most folk.
It would be interesting to see what folk make of it, but truthfully I'll be more likely to stick to trading closer to home at hobby stores etc. It's just much easier to go looking for cards others might not need :)

It might be fun to do a commons trade with people :3 It would be like MTG penpals~ You could send funny common out around the world haha. Maybe draw a funny sketch over the face of a creature or something.

I think that the rating system is a pretty good idea. It would solve alot of the problems that most online trading sites have.
honeymomo... I think that may just be one of the greatest ideas I have ever heard in my life.

I think most online trading sites have problems because people are only there to trade. You're going to attract rip-offs that way.
At tapped, the idea is we all know each other from decks, drafts, etc. If a stranger pops up and is just here to rip people off, its going to be obvious because they have no other site activity. I wouldn't trade with anyone with 0 decks and no comments, but that's me..
momo.... start it up!

I think that bringing money and possible scams to this site would hurt it and trades should be done elsewhere. Howver I think honeymomo's idea is a good one, as long as no one on here wants to murder me and is just waiting for the address...

Okay then~ Send me your addresses to [email protected] and I'll send you a letter and a card!~ :D Yay!~

I created a link on trade binders where you can send your email address to the person instead of posting it as a comment.

I like the idea yeago but it should populate like a little box where we can enter our email and maybe a comment about what were interested in? My public email is different than the one I signed up with.

@honeymomo
Would we then send you back a different card? Or would we send it to someone new after we draw on it?
June 7, 2010 3:21 p.m.
You can do whatever you want I guess? I would assume you just trade commons with people tho and it's a new common each time. I'm sure you could pass one along as chain mail tho too.
I drew up a few today already~ I just need to send them out now :D

I'm looking for a creature that can blink itself. Besides AEtherling is there any other creature that can exile itself and return a little while later?

Oh how great that would be...but I have a lot of doubts. It would require a LOT, and in my opinion too much, trust. One issue is, as you've said, shipping and handling (postage) would have to be paid. We would need to know the location of the card/member before initiating a trade; I may not want to pay postage to, say, China. Another is card quality: I could be trying to trade for a great card, but how could I tell what condition it's in? And I know you mentioned the risk of getting scammed, which could be solved by the rating system, but I don't want to be the poor guy who finds out that he won't get the cards he was promised for his jace, the mind sculptor from so-and-so. I love this community, and I have a deal of trust with most of the members; however, the openness of T/O could be easily taken advantage of. Anyone can join and make an account, and could take advantage of other people's trust, if only for one trade. I would propose a much simpler and less expansive system. People willing to trade list the cards and location, and look for people willing to trade in their area. Given, this is MUCH less effective and you are less likely to actually make a trade, but it is much safer and reliable. I hate speaking out against this, because I would love for it to work; I just don't believe it can without a more comprehensive system or go-between.
