Using ChatGPT with browsing to estimate which decks would win a matchup

I have found that you can provided links to multiple decks in tappedout and get ChatGPT to summarize the builds, and extrapolate who would have an edge based on the power, price, and composition of a deck.

Most of my decks are budget builds, and our playgroup has its own less competitive meta, but it seems spot on in its comparison from what I have seen. I am curious if anyone else has had ChatGPT examine a matchup before.

I haven't messed with Chat GPT nor plan to, but it would be intriguing if AI could simulate games to come up with a power scale more concrete than, "About a 7".

I'm not trying to disparage ChatGPT here, although I am generally skeptical of its abilities. Is this any different from a simulated sports match or anything? I know that sports video games (mostly from EA: Madden, FIFA, etc.) have been used to predict the outcomes of major events, and they usually do a pretty good job. Is a generalized AI going to be more accurate? The FIFA one has predicted the last four World Cup winners correctly.

Its worth noting that ChatGDP isn’t doing any critical analysis of the cards themselves - its just stringing word together in a believable way. All of the “analysis” its giving will be based off existing threads of information scattered throughout the internet, mixed with convincing-enough text for the parts its missing.

I haven’t run this in ChatGPT myself yet - but my suspicions are that it will give a list of trivially obvious ascertains, mixed with lies.

I would also not put much stock into the ratings that ChatGPT (or Bard or any other AI engine based on large language model processing). They are performing language analysis and don't actually know how to evaluate the cards.

That being said, if someone wanted to, they could probably build out an AI that could play Magic at a pretty high level, simulate a whole lot of games and then build out a system that could evaluate deck strength. Maybe some grad student somewhere?

It seems to have conceptualized the playstyles of the decks and though anecdotal on my part seems to be correct in the single matchup of my personal decks I've played many times. It's interesting none the less, and I'll have to do some more testing and create a more verifiable state of matchups. Something with a lot of tutor for example. I appreciate the engagement on this topic
