What card is better? They both exile target non land permanent. But one cost 4 mana and the other cost 3 plus 3 life. I know that ang would be better in fast decks but it's also weaker against aggro. I personally like utter end. But I would like to hear others opinions
I know you werent trying for a DIRECT comparison with the whole thoughtseize and inquisition comment as they are not the same in the argument with end and unmaking since end and unmaking do the EXACT same thing for different mana. I prefer utter end but it really depends on what deck you are playing.

yeah even if there are aggressive decks I would probably just play utter end

I was gonna auto-add Anguished Unmaking to my EDH deck, I only have room for one, but have decided to stick with Utter End as it's only one extra mana for no downside.

The comparison I was making is that I don't like losing life purposefully, even for a small "advantage". Read that how you will.

Once you go past a certain point, neither are that great in edh.

I like Anguished Unmaking as I prefer to run decks that are light on mana so the lower casting cost is huge. Life is a resource I'll gladly use and pay for power.

One less mana is huge since the less mana you have to hold up the more and bigger threats you can drop on your turn. Also of note is that it's in BW, the premier incidental life gain pairing. Off the top of my head you have Shambling Vent, Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and Sorin, Grim Nemesis to easily gain you enough life to run and cast a playset, should you desire.

TheDevicer Utter End has gotten rid of problematic threats at all stages of EDH games, for me.

Exiling anything sort of a land is amazing. Still, once you get to a certain point, you'd rather just have a counterspell or some hyper efficient answer like Nature's Claim. When you're facing Derevi, Scion, etc., you'll laugh at your own ACMC if you start including either of these cards. You're up against ACMCs of 1.7 to 2.0 usually.

I like End better than Unmaking for the same reason I favor Inquisition of Kozilek over Thoughtseize. I dislike loss of life for a touch more power. That said, I'd run both for the same reasons I'd run both Inquisition and Thoughtseize, they're awesome at what they do.
