What Will Be the Successor to Planeswalker Decks?
General forum

Most users here agreed that the planeswalker decks were the successor to the Duel Decks, but, now that the planeswalker decks are being discontinued, what shall be the successor to them? What does everyone else say about this?

I honestly liked duel decks a lot but I don't think we're going back there... Maybe some form of a hybrid? 2 decks, each with a new planeswalker and on the level of planeswalker decks, plus a pack or 2 for each? I prefered Into Decks over planeswalker decks, and would like to see a return to those as well

Looks like Wizards wants Brawl precons to replace Planeswalker decks. They were suppose to be at the same price point of $20 which is a welcomed change in my opinion. Problem is Wizards with all of its infinite knowledge forgot to print/distribute the same amount of the damn product for it be a replacement.
Honestly one of the best products Wizards has made recently which was also $20 each were the Guild Kits. I hope products like these can be duplicated for other Standard sets.

I'm not sure that the problem with the brawl decks was that they didn't print the same amount as the Planeswalker decks. The availability "problem" was that it appealed to established players. I know no one that has ever bought a Planeswalker deck, but my playgroup each bought a Brawl deck just for the commander, arcane signet, and shock land.

Brawl decks aren't replacements for planeswalker decks

I mean there is that too. And as you stated earlier that PW decks were replacements to intro decks, not fuel decks. I was more pointing out that the comparison was apples to oranges since the Brawl decks actually had appeal.

While Gidgetimer meant duel decks, Fuel decks would actually pretty gas, if they existed.
Imagine having a supplemental product only printed to supplement another supplemental deck. I can see Theros having a fuel deck to support the Brawl decks from TED with new cards.

As far as I understood it, we got the brawl precons for Eldraine in addition to the PW decks. For next year, we'll get the additional EDH precons instead of the PW decks for Ikoria and Zendikar (please correct me if I'm wrong). So I guess we'll get both Brawl precons AND PW Decks for Theros: Dead and loving it, which doesn't give me the impression of PW decks being entirely discontinued, but instead merely paused.

My friends and I bought a lot of the Planeswalker decks.
We use them to play against Challenger decks in co-op.
Standard/Pioneer decks are too strong in that format. The Planeswalker decks are perfect.
The decks actually have a lot of fun little interactions. Each one has a distinct theme.
They are great for relaxing games with friends. You don't really care if you win or lose, as you didn't build the deck. You can also play them after drinking many beers, as they aren't very complex.
We also like the Arena code you get with each one. Been able to unlock some great cards, especially from the Sorin M20 Core Set deck.
They are great for teaching new players the game, and for 2HG.
I look forward to playing the Ashiok one I recently picked up, as it is almost exactly what I built at the last prerelease event.
They are a terrific product, given the right environment.

Planeswalker decks clearly followed on from Intro decks.
They weren't a replacement for Duel Decks, as you only got one deck, not two.

Oh and Planeswalker decks are also not going away.
They will be released with each Core Set, which I for one am glad about.
It's good that they are slowing down a bit. I was running out of space for them! I've got over 20 now.
They are a great way for you to get to play with cards that you may not use for a constructed deck eg. Hauti lets you experience Dinos, Angrath is Pirates, Chandra is Vehicles, Nissa is Energy, Sorin gives you life gain, Rowan let's you play a tribal deck where the tribe is no tribe (if you can get your mind around that one).
I suspect that most people commenting in this topic have never even played with one.
