A Sadistic Card

First and foremost, apologies to Epoch if this is not in the right forum.
Anyways, can anyone think of anything that would work with Cruel Sadist? I really, really want to build a deck around her, but I have absolutely no idea what to do.

I saw those Luutamo but none of them look very, I don't know, useful. I mean, Cruel Sadist is a pretty bad card regardless, but...

Koalamaster123 I don't think her ability is triggered, just activated :( Would be nice if it were though.

You could build the deck B/G or Abzan (B/W/G) and dip into something to dump a bunch of +1/+1 counters on her. Going with G also gives you mana acceleration, so you can get ahead of the curve and do more than just use her ability or one pump spell per turn. The big thing to remember is that it HAS to be counters, not just things like Giant Growth. White gives you access to lifegain and similar spells so you can recover if you have to use your own life to pump Cruel Sadist.

Cruel Sadist is kind of like Cosi's Trickster in that they both have cool abilities, but lack any practical use. The Trickster has the upper hand here as she doesn't require an additional mana investment beyond her casting cost. You could probably build some janky counters deck using Hardened Scales and some of the standard "each creature with a +1/+1 counter has ___" cards, but it would be a pretty slow deck since the Sadist takes a while to really do anything.
I'm not sure if we're talking about a specific format, but I've really wanted to make a Modern deck work with the Trickster. Can never get it right though...In theory, she's 1-drop that sits there and gets bigger, but she can't do much against a T2 Goyf and eats an Abrupt Decay as soon as she becomes a threat.
Back to the Sadist, you could try something with her, Hardened Scales, and maybe Triton Tactics in Standard?

ducttapedeckbox I love Cosi's Trickster! Never thought of them as a pair, but I can see the similarities.
Anyways, I was thinking of a rock deck with the Sadist. I guess that I'll try Standard, because if it's a slow jank deck in that format, it'll get laughed out of the room in Modern.

That's a good idea, if it isn't playable in Standard, it almost definitely isn't playable in Modern. I'd love to see what you come up with though, link the deck when you have something?

You gotta be careful with Cruel Sadist because she requires allot of investment and can easily be blown up before doing anything worthwhile.

Abzan (G/W/B) seems like the best choice. You can do things like Hardened Scales, Reap What Is Sown, plus gives you some removal with the black.

Just look at the link you just posted and you can see cards that combo with it (scroll down a little, on right side).
