A Singularity Among Players

Legacy Deck Help forum

So where in all the twisted planes of MTG, would Naked Singularity fit in? Seriously, it does amazing things, but where would I put it? (Like deck types, I want to put it in Legacy game play).

That card looks very but very fun. But I don't see it being remotely playable, not even in a casual legacy environment(if that even exists). You could add that to a commander deck and see your opponents unable to cast their spells?

You could play it in a Sen Triplets deck now that Rule 4 is gone. Chromatic Lantern would be help. That would be funny.

Don't forget about Reality Twist. Also, these cards would be fun in an artifact themed deck that doesn't care about the color of mana.

DrFunk27: Chromatic Lantern would not help basic lands produce any color, as the replacement effect offered by Naked Singularity changes the mana that a land with a basic land type produces regardless of what kinds of mana it can produce.

Because it has mana symbols for all five colors in its rules text, it can't be run in a Sen Triplets deck, DrFunk27. That said, a five color deck with this, Prismatic Omen, and Hex Parasite seems fun.

I think you're missing the point. Lantern doesn't care what type mana your lands can produce as its effects is an alternate cost. Your lands make both whatever they tap for and what lantern allows. Therefore a plains creates or X based off Lantern. However you're correct that it couldn't work with triplets based on the color identity but it would be fun with 5 color.

No, it's a replacement effect. It doesn't matter what kind of mana the land is trying to produce, it will make the color Naked Singularity wants it to produce. Which is why Prismatic Omen would be better, because then any land you control would produce .

I agree with ItchiUchiha117.

Me too, sorry DrFunk27, I have to agree with ItchiUchiha117. Thanks guys! This is helpful, I don't have the card, but it's just really weird how it works and I've never seen anyone play it before in any format. I think it's cool how it works, and if you guys ever build a deck with Naked Singularity being the main card played around, let me know. Thanks again!

It's all good. I just read into it. That's quite an odd interaction and I don't completely understand it but that's magic for you.
