Daze vs Misdirection
Legacy Deck Help forum

I finally got the opportunity to play test my Legacy Sneak and Show deck against some people, and I realized that I need to be running way more counters. I'm looking at Daze and Misdirection as the ones I would possibly add in - which one would be better in a SnS shell? Thanks.
Deck for reference: You ordered the Spaghetti, right?
Any reason you aren't running Counterspell? It's the OG.

Why would you cast a conditional counter when you can cast an unconditional one?

Because this is legacy and most games don't go past the 4th land drop? If that?

Lots of Legacy decks run Counterspell. She's already running FoW for mana less counters, and she currently has Flusterstorm and Spell Pierce. It might be nice to add another unconditional counter.

Might also be better to run a free counterspell to protect a T3 Show and Tell rather that let his opponent combo off. Better to just play Daze or Misdirection along with a series of soft counters.

Counterspell as a 1 of is just fine.
Daze is a bit weird, here. Remember, you need to bounce an island back to your hand, which means that 5 of your 19 lands cannot help you cast daze. You get around the color screw a bit by playing Lotus Petal, trying to get the best of both worlds- but while petal provides blue mana, it does not help you cast daze.

I don't like Misdirection, here as it butts heads with FoW.
I'd rather run a 3rd Spell Pierce.

kmcree, Counterspell would probably not help him here. Almost no legacy decks run Counterspell because there are better counters out there. The decks that do run it only run it as a 1 of. Just because it's OG doesn't mean its good. I think the number of counters being run in your deck is fine actually.

MADMatt7777: Counterspell is played in almost 25% of decks according to MTGgoldfish. Now granted, its only played 1.3 copies per deck, but I'm not advocating to play 4.
JA14732: I'm just saying that, as a complement to what she is already running, 1-2 Counterspells might be a reasonable inclusion. She already has FoW as a 4 of to protect Show and Tell, and I definitely wouldn't change that. But there are situations where something like Daze will be completely worthless because they have the mana to pay for it. That's why I think including 1-2 hard counters is worthwhile.

Instead of counters, I would add Wastelands. Card is seriously invaluable, but I play legacy jund which is much different than S&S lol.

What cards are you worried about and how does Misdirection help you against those cards? How does Daze help you against those cards? I have little knowledge about S&S, but because you have 4 Force of Will already i think Daze may be a tiny bit better in this deck (you dont want too much card disadvantage). Also, Daze are only good early game, but S&S are quite fast, yes? Then Daze wins :)
