Want to build Legacy Rock, few questions...

Legacy Deck Help forum

So I own Modern Rock which has most of the money cards from Legacy Rock. I don't own any Bayou's though so my first question is if Overgrown Tombs are acceptable replacements. How vital is not shocking yourself in Legacy? Is it like Modern where it only matters verse very few decks or is it going to kill me every single match?

2nd question is which version of Rock is stronger. Basic grind rock or rock with the Dark Depths combo thrown in?

Also I noticed builds tend not to run any manlands? Are they no good in Legacy?

Oh trust me, you definitely need the duals for the deck. They're strictly better, and the 2 life lost is so much worse when you're playing stuff like Dark Confidant.

This is what I have so far, if any one wants to critique:

I added some critiques to the deck. Don't know how effective they'll be, as I don't know Legacy, but I figured I might as well share my opinion.

Play tested a bit. Really enjoy the deck so far. Legacy offers quite a bit of manipulation not available in modern. I agree with the above response, you really do need the Bayous. Save life for when you need to Dismember yourself on Sylvan Library.

Have you considered Life from the Loam and Living Wish?

Life from the Loam lets you set up Wasteland locks, along with making your manlands more resilient (especially Mishra's Factory).

Living Wish alters things quite a bit, but it's basically Demonic Tutor with the right build. You can go for Dark Depths, Tombstalker, Ghost Quarter, and other hate crap.

As for what to play alongside Darkblast, Dismember, Maelstrom Pulse, Pernicious Deed, Toxic Deluge, Umezawa's Jitte, and even Chalice of the Void can be used to deal with creatures. There's also deck-specific answers. Massacre (which you already have)) and Engineered Plague being the 2 main ones.

I'm also not sold on Surgical Extraction. You're really worried about Dredge, which is going to try and Cabal Therapy things out of your hand. Storm is also going to play Duress, Thoughtseize, and Cabal Therapy to clear a path for Lion's Eye Diamond -> Infernal Tutor -> Past in Flames.

Planar Void is good, but having a diverse set of answers makes it harder for them to sideboard against you. Ground Seal, Leyline of the Void, Relic of Progenitus, Grafdigger's Cage, and Tormod's Crypt all come in handy. You are playing Deathrite Shaman, but additional graveyard hate is something you need to dedicate sideboard slots to.
