Artifact Affinity

So when I get my tax return, I'm putting together my first serious Legacy deck, artifact affinity with Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas . I borrowed one for my first ever Legacy tournament and it was so much fun, I didn't even care I only won one round. ((I had no clue how to pilot it.)) I wanted to collect some thoughts on the deck type and what cards I should consider when starting the build. I know theres only so much individuality in artifact affinity, but I want to build it myself.

well obviously, any decent affinity deck has Ornithopter and Memnite and Frogmite . all three are beautiful cards, also Cranial Plating is a very much good staple. i'm not sure on the banned/restricted cards are nowdays, so i can leave you with Arcbound Crusher that card is also a staple. but other than that, i'm pretty much out. though i would like to see a affinity deck using the manabase for 12post and the urzatrons. that's a literall sploogeton of mana.

Haha, of course! I've already got three memnites, an ornithopter and a frogmite, I've been picking them up whenever I see them in "junk piles". I have a "fun" affinity deck drawn up with Platinum Angel and Darksteel Forge . It's just slow for local legacy. I've never seen arcbound before, thanks for the suggestion! I was also going to go with Vault Skirge for a good Cranial Plating equip. Oh, and my boyfriend has one each of the urza thingies. I could play around with them.

You may want to look at Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto Legacy. It's one of the more common builds that uses the grixis color shard. R for Galvanic Blast and U/B for Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas .

I've never seen Arcbound Crusher in any legacy lists; I have seen Arcbound Ravager though.

Oooh, I like the ravager a lot. Definitely helps with pesky artifact destruction, that's for sure.

Thanks for all the input so far! This is definitely my favorite legacy deck archetype.

you can go hard with much better artifacts, like Lotus Petal though im not sure if its legal, and artifact lands which aren't banned, which is a plus. You can;t just run the robots list, you need some better legacy staples. try to have a consistent mana base, and you can play Counterspell or Counterbalance , but it'd be bad with all the 0 mana stuff you have. Goblin Welder is a huge plus if you want to try to reanimate a Blightsteel Colossus or something. it would make Thirst for Knowledge pretty good.

I like Mox Opal better than Lotus Petal , actually, though if I need even faster mana ramp I can certainly put both in. ((I prefer to try to get Cranial Plating out turn one so they can't counter unless they have Force of Will .)) I don't think the Goblin Welder would work on Blightsteel Colossus because the colossus gets shuffled back to the deck. Might be fun for Darksteel Forge , but idk. If I did something like that I'd run Thirst for Knowledge, but otherwise I'm pretty sure I'm running Thoughtcast . I'd also like to make as many things as possible artifacts for Tezzeret's ultimate.

Thou should not forget the staple lands of any artifact deck. Darksteel Citadel , Seat of the Synod , Vault of Whispers , Glimmervoid , Blinkmoth Nexus , Inkmoth Nexus .. all powerful tomes to run for mana. Signal Pest and Mox Opal are wonderful and tomes like Springleaf Drum are quite helpful

Inkmoth Nexus Is bad in Affinity. It doesn't go well with the rest of the deck, being that it's infect. Even Blinkmoth Nexus is rarely used. Some people like it, some people don't.

Frogmite isn't a staple, in fact, it's usually not used. Your core is pretty basic;

4 Memnite

4 Ornithopter

4 Signal Pest

4 Vault Skirge

3 Master of Etherium

3 Etched Champion

3 Mox Opal

3 Springleaf Drum

4 Cranial Plating

4 Thoughtcast

3 Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas

3 Seat of the Synod

3 Vault of Whispers

3 Darksteel Citadel

3 Glimmervoid

That's the core. It's pretty flexible. Arcbound Ravager is a good one to throw in. Master of Etherium can be replaced with Stoneforge Mystic and you can replace a Springleaf Drum with a card:Umezawa's Jitte. Anywhere between 12-16 lands. I see Ancient Tomb being used a lot.

Legacy Affinity

Thats my list and does very well, I hate having so many 3 drops. I dont and have never liked master of etherium and is always my first pick to get rid of for a new card. I have been trying out gitaxian probe and its fantastic.

You really need ravager and I would take it over the master but I am not wanting to drop 30$ a card like that but without skullclamp in the format you really need the draw power to keep the gas going.

and i would never ever go less than 4 for darksteel citadel. glimmervoid is great as a 2 of, and I am torn on which tezz. For my casual list I run a split and both are at times hard to cast.

If I had a drum or another mox it wouldn't be so bad but without ravager anymore than 2 mox your pushing it to have dead cards in your hand. 3 is really pushing it without ravager.

Ravager is very important cause if they want to destroy something BOOM sack it to ravager and beat them in the face. Legacy affinity really needs to play fast and thats why I decided to omit the drums in my casual deck. I want to play many threats and if I dont have a plating in hand I mull.
