choke vs blood moon in the current meta

Which land hate card is better in the current metagame Choke or Blood Moon? I feel like having access to one of these is nice but not sure which one is better right now.

I like Blood Moon more right now since it punishes Pod decks, which I find much more annoying than delver. Still, I would just run whichever was better in your local meta, or whichever fits the colors you are playing.

Blood Moon is better against the field. Remember, there are decks other than Delver. Junk decks and Pod still exist. Scapeshift still exists. Blood Moon loses points against UR Delver, but is much better overall.

Wrong forum for Pod decks. There's really only Nic Fit in Legacy... and it's pretty fringe.
Here's the thing: they punish different things. Choke is great in Legacy because everyone wants to play blue... you just have to not be... which seems sort of odd. But, hey, Jund is sort of okay and Punishing Maverick is a real deck. Blood Moon is played by a lot of basic heavy decks to punish decks that are nonbasic heavy. You'll see it in the sideboards of Sneak and Show, Miracles, Delver and anything else that runs red and a ton of basics.
Blood Mooning Lands is hilarious fyi.

Just making sure you guys realize that I am talking about legacy and not modern because some of the decks you guys mention I feel I am more likely to find in a modern event rather than a legacy one. Could be wrong and their are legacy versions of them but again I feel like decks like scapeshift and pod are better in modern than legacy.

I play nic fit and at least for me, choke has been more helpful (I no longer have access to red mana but when I did I still preferred choke). Depending on your decklist, blood moon can punish you having utility lands. But also more importantly, choke shuts down decks like miracles and delver decklists a lot more effectively which is where you need them usually

Bahaha I've had Modern on the brain recently, my bad. Feel like an idiot.

Probably Choke if there's no blue in your list. It hurts a lot more since they'll still have access to red.

Depends what decks you want to shut down. 12 Post, Mud, G/B/x, Lands, StoneBlade and her variants, typically have greedy mana bases that Blood Moon hoses hard. Miracles, and any deck running will really dislike Choke. It seems that Blood Moon is better overall against more decks, however Choke can also be a pain to the correct deck.

blood moon is better current esp when it comes to uwr delver, stoneblade, and any non blue decks such as maverick, however against things like miracles which run plenty of basics its less effect and choke would be better.
ive won games against delver with blood moon since it shuts off daze, spell pierce, cruise, delver, etc etc, leaving them with bolt/swiftspear/red blast. a card like choke will still allow them to daze and have a land to replay untapped to cast things like delver.
if youre playing jund choke might be a better option to allow you to keep things like grove/punishing fire active, as well as your own duals, but you arnt playing punishing jund then id say blood moon since you have the ability to play around it, and youll have a better game against decks like lands, maverick, etc

I'd play Blood Moon. Choke is only better against UR Delver, and there are enough other decks that I feel safer playing Blood Moon.

just out of curiousity what sort of legacy deck are you play that has access to both R/G mana but not using blue where choke wouldn't hurt you?
Jund? Nic Fit with red over white?

I was just mainly wondering for brewing purposes. I am thinking about a bunch of potential splash options for a mono colored deck that has the option to splash a color or two. I think green and red are both colors I could see splashing and having fun stuff to work with so I wanted to see how the land hoser cards stack.up right now and see if the gap between them was significant.

gotcha. Both cards are interesting to splash. which is your mono color now? if your main color is W (D&T) or B (control/reanimator) which this alludes too, i personally prefer choke. Not b/c its much better, but green offers alot to those decks....golgari charm, abrupt decay, goyf, knight of the reliquary etc... but bloodmoon is absolutely devastating in a heavy 3 color meta and of course gives you lightning bolt.

why not both? but Choke because delver is the biggest deck and the moon isn't as good
