Consistency vs. Anti-counter

Legacy forum

In many legacy combo decks there are the obvious free ramp playsets (Elvish Spirit Guide , Lotus Petal ), the combo pieces (Dread Return . Goblin Charbelcher and other utility (Cabal Therapy , Summoner's Pact , my irl deck is oops, all spells: (I spy with my little eye, a T1 win) and I find there are 2 variable slots (Wild Cantor and Chancellor of the Tangle ) so my question is for the first game is it worth siding in Pact of Negation instead of them to counter Force of Will ? the first two add fixing / possible mana, but getting force'd in the first game is a veritable match loss. I'd like to hear your opinions!

If you know you're going to win that turn I find Pact of Negation to be infinity useful.

In your deck I'd honestly just run more Cabal Therapy , naming Force of Will .

There really should be 4 Pact of Negation mainboard with all those Force of Will going around. If you lose the counter war, you lost anyways, whether Pact of Negation actually made you lose the game or not.

Also, like sylvannos said, maybe 1 more Cabal Therapy wouldn't hurt.

I also think that there should be a single Phantasmagorian in the deck to serve as a discard outlet for those unfortunate times a Dread Return , Angel of Glory's Rise , etc ends up in your hand.
