I am wondering if anyone has knows about any viable legacy mardu builds. I am looking for something to use in gp seattle and I have the most experience with mardu. I am not expecting to top 8 or anything, but it would be nice to stand a chance every once and a while.

closest you can get is a deck called "Zombardment" it's not exactly competitive but eh. It's so-so

I would be most interested in if there are any good midrange styled. Something that uses discard instead of counters.

@ VampireArmy, you take that back! zombardment is definitely competitive. It is definitely major event viable too, piloting the deck takes a skilled tactician, but the deck itself is good enough

I'm only saying that it doesn't place highly often. I love Mardu more than anyone but this is legacy. You gotta accept that the type of deck op is talking about it 10000% better suited to be Jund

problem as to why it does not place often is so many people play it less. Jund requires goyf amongst other things. zombardment can be made for less than $55 duals included...

There is Zombardment and I swear Pikula use to be Mardu running Stoneforge Dark Confidant etc with bolt, path, helix, discard, souls

Deadguy/Redguy Ale is also a possibility. It's a BW(x) aggressive Stoneforge deck, that typically splashes green for goyf or red for better aggression and removal. You still have to put up with the dual prices, jitte, SFM, and Bob, but the deck is pretty good. Your biggest problem is likely Young Pyromancer decks, though I haven't done any testing with the deck in a very long time.
The deck uses discard and efficient removal as a bridge to play powerful creatures. Chrome Mox allows it to play more quickly than other similar strategies, and it has powerful sideboard options available to it.

Thanks for all the feedback. I realize that a tarmo type deck would be better, but I am not invested enough in the format yet to take that plunge. Mardu Legacy Project Here is what I threw together based on my available card pool. I recognize that I am weak to unfair decks since I have no free counters so I am trying to focus on beating fair decks.

Redguy Ale was a nickname (it may have been a local thing) for Deadguy ale with a red splash. Bolt, a couple helixes, and sideboard stuff.

Maybe delve a little deeper into what you're looking to play? Control something? Aggro something? Tribal something?
