Legacy Miracles Question

So I'm building up Miracles currently, and I'm just looking at different builds.
Now assuming I'm not running basic mountains for SB Pyroblast and Red Elemental Blast and only using Volcanic Island for red sources, I see no reason to run a set of Scalding Tarn's over Misty Rainforest's.
The price difference is all it comes down to, and it doesn't really make a difference to me, but a lot of the builds I see don't run basic mountains yet run the tarn's.
Any reason why? Am I just driving myself mad for no reason? Thought I'd get a public opinion on it.

To answer your question: sure you can play Mistys. But like fluffy said, if you intend to bring RED/pyroblast in on delver lists, you NEED a basic mountain and Tarn is the best fetch in that situation.

See I've noticed a lot of lists with no basic mountains at all....
And these are top ranked lists, not just random decks.

No basic mountain? I agree. I don't run a basic mountain because I don't bring in reb. But miracles will always play basics.

I'll elaborate now that I've eaten something finally.
I've seen a lot of lists that don't run a basic Mountain, but it's always seemed stupid to lose to Wasteland when the rest of your deck plays around it so well already. There a lot of Miracles builds that actually mainboard one Pyroblast and they run a basic Mountain in the main a lot in place of one Volcanic Island. The reality is that red mana is really only important to Miracles under two circumstances: you're casting Red Elemental Blast/Pyroblast or the Wear portion of Wear / Tear. The rest of the time you'd rather have white mana available for either Entreat the Angels or Terminus. It really seems like a niche circumstance, but I've won several matchups against Miracles as Delver because Wear / Tear was a dead card due to having no red sources left and I had Pithing Needle on Sensei's Divining Top. If you're already playing around a card, you should be playing around it all the way, not 50%.

Ur mana base is that tight that you cant run a basic mountain to protect yourself? Sounds greedy...

Khanye it's not always that, it's too greedy. A basic mountain in openers can be a death sentence, I know I tried it. going against DnT G1 with Tundra and Mountain is really shaky, having a 2nd blue source (I swapped the mountain for a second Volc) has made openers much more consistent.

So it does seem like there is some genuine reason to not run the basic (i.e having dual lands for versatility) but Wasteland is the main reason to do so.
Hmm. We'll I'll probably pick up sets of both fetches then and test as I go. Interesting decision.

The reason depends on your actual list. My deck runs 2 Pyroblast and 1 Red Elemental Blast in the sideboard, no other red cards. I can afford to not have the basic mountain because they aren't part of my game plan VS delver. At the end of the day it depends how you choose to approach Wasteland match ups and what you want to gain/give up.

You want a basic Mountain either in the main or in the side. Because Wasteland is a real thing.
