Phyrexian Revoker over Pithing Needle in SB?

IDK if this is already a thing.

Here it goes:

First off, it is "fetch"-able by Living Wish. Secondly, due to its being it is better against miracles. Lastly, I think it is better for creature based strategies.

Cons: more prone to removal and Pithing Needle can target Wastelands. Thoughts?

Now, I don't know much about Legacy, but it seems easy as fuck to remove it. Needle seems more likely to stay down.

Yes that is true (Swords to Plowshares, Abrupt Decay, Innocent Blood, etc.). But still.

Well, decay hits the needle too to be fair. I think if you're trying to disable a certain card the needle is better, but if it's just utility I see the benefits to Revoker.

Needle can target lands, specifically Wasteland. That in and of itself can be huge

Ahh didn't catch that. I agree.

Revoker is awesome in the right deck, like Death and Taxes or Vintage Shops. But yeah, stopping wasteland or karakas can be nice

I also like it in nic fit.

I didn't consider nic fit, that's a fun one too, nice catch

What deck would you use it in? Also please bring in a creature instead of needle against miracles, plow is easier to find than my Disenchant. The only decks revoker is better are Death and taxes and Food chain. The former because AEther Vial is bonkers and the latter because they can start comboing off with mana from sagging revoker.

Both are prone to removal, it depends on the deck you are playing though. I prefer Phyrexian Revoker if you're playing death and taxes, maverick(what I'm playin in legacy) or hatebears. Mother of Runes can protect revoker from removal when Pithing Needle gets left to the wolves. If you're playing non-mom decks then needle is PROBABLY better but it really depends on what deck you are running

If you had a list for us it would help out a lot.

Depends on the deck you're playing and the deck you're trying to side in against.

Honestly, there's no way Revoker is better against Miracles. As a former Miracles pilot, your best shot at shutting down Top is turn one needle.

I, unfortunately, do not have a list. It occurred to me when spectating a game on untap.

First turn Gitaxian Probe and then Pithing Needle whatever fetch they have in their hand and hope to hell they don't draw more lands!

:P

I agree with TehCoopeh, Pithing Needle just because you can gitaxian probe it and stick it first turn against almost any deck except for Abrupt Decay to interupt fetches, especially when on the play.

If you are playing and on the draw (Hey i'e seen non decks probe successfully) then you can Probe and then decide if you want to Pithing Needle or save mana for Spell Snare.

Also the fact that Phyrexian Revoker is killed by everything really hurts. it cannot chump tokens from Young Pyromancer, is equal costed to Abrupt Decay and offers 2 for 1s against Kolaghan's Command, not fetch-able later by Trinket Mage (A fun thing to do if you've countered their first Liliana of the Veil or combo attempt), is counter able by Spell Pierce..so many reasons.

If you need to fill the two drop slot then take Ratchet Bomb, Chalice of the Void, Myr Retriever, for artifacts or for creaures just play good stuff like Young Pyromancer, Tarmogoyf, Scavenging Ooze or for disruption just have Remand, discard, Mana Leak..anything T2 but this guy.

I use revoker in Jund in Legacy over the needle.

The pros: It stops a card, AND provides some pressure. If it eats a swords to plowshares, then one of my goyfs can run free. I have been running 2 of them in the board and never really had an issue.

The cons, aka "hater points": It costs 2. You cannot hit lands. dies to bolt. these are all valid points. I guess its a matter of preference. I personally like playing t3 BBE, cascading into revoker for "surprise!" factor.

kengiczar no..Spell Pierce doesn't do anything for revoker. Spell Snare maybe?
