What do you guys suggest?

All I can think of is Pithing Needle.

Please clarify the following:

  1. What you're talking about.

  2. What deck you're playing.

Sry Dark Depths and in general.

Dark Depths combo is what he is trying to against. The deck he is boarding in would be helpful, but not totally necessary.

Pithing Needle would do it but with 2 ways to combo (Thespian's Stage and Vampire Hexmage) it isn't good enough IMO. Wasteland can destroy it before the ability resolves stopping Marit Lage but it seems a little fragile to try to depend on as well. I'm not sure what the best way is.

So the Dark Depths combo, and in general.

Well, assuming that you don't maindeck Karakas, Swords to Plowshares, Wasteland, Venser, Shaper Savant, Terminus, Stifle, Trickbind, or any of the other things that are good against the Depths combo...

You've got Blood Moon, Chain of Vapor, Wipe Away, Crop Rotation into Wasteland, Ensnaring Bridge, Peacekeeper, and a whole lot of other ones that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Like Gidgetimer said though, it really would help if you told us what deck you're playing.

I don't have a deck that I'm playing tho. It is literally a general question.

4x Wasteland? That or Phyrexian Revoker. Or one of the funnier options - Unsummon.

Well, you don't even have to stop the combo, any exile or Pacifism effect works fine on the token. Even Condemn does the job.

I like KillDatBUG's suggestion:

Opponent: "So I play Thespian's Stage. Now I activate it's ability. One Marit Lage token. I end my turn."

You: "I play Karakas?"

Opponent: quietly sobs into hand

Keep this in mind, people: Sorcery speed effects don't work against the Dark Depths combo, because it can be activated at instant speed.

It depends on the dark depths deck. They function pretty differently.

Cards like Rest in Peace or Leyline of the Void are actually really great against lands, as it is pretty dependent on Life From the Loam and Crucible of Worlds to protect them from Wasteland/Ghostquarter or any land destruction in general as well as comboing again if you manage to remove their Marit Lage. Tsabo's Web or back to basics + Rootmaze or Rishaden Port works well, forcing their lands to tap, but not being able to untap them. Pithing Needle and Karakas are the two most surefire ways to stop them indefinitely.

Runed Halo and Ensnaring Bridge are pretty workable answers to the token itself.
