SCG scales back support for Legacy - 2015 onward

The Internet is ablaze with nerd rage as SCG scales back support for legacy next year as many predicted with just three Sunday opens scheduled for 2015. But without SCG the format will go into decline (not that it wasn't) as modern becomes the more viable alternative. Obviously this has pissed allot of people off so if you're one of them best have your say while the issue is still relevant. On a side note we'll have to see how this will impact prices and influences other formats. Given that modern also shares a good deal of staples with legacy this could have positive knock on effect if players begin dumping their assets on mass.

Chiefwannahacka your are partially true. They will be doing that but they won't be streaming the Sunday events a lot which means that legacy won't get a bigger spotlight. I just think it's a poor move since gp New Jersey brought a lot of positive attention to legacy

So people are embellishing what SCG is doing to cry wolf that they're trying to kill legacy? A little less coverage is fine, Especially if we can get Legacy opens Its far from a bad call.

I don't play Legacy, but I've gotten into the habit of watching it on Sunday. This is definitely a disappointing announcement.

Its great if you play legacy, you should try proxying a few decks and playing.

the formats loosing out on air time and tens of thousands of dollars in prize funds, that's not a decision made lightly or without intent

It sucks for spectators but as a north east player, 20k is much more than 10k, and at least there will be 5ks on sundays for legacy

Madhouse arent as interested, least when i checked they said "legacy isn't a thing in this country" while scg saying "let there be legacy"

Uhhhhh, I think you misread the article. Because it's the actual opposite of what you're saying. SCG is going to have Opens in format other than Standard, and they're going to be switching up the Sunday Premiers, which used to typically be only Legacy, until Modern was added recently. They are opening up the format by offering a larger stage for it every once in a while.
