Im looking to get into legacy and i want to play either sneak and show or 12-post but i am not at all familiar with the legacy format. Which of these decks is more competitive in the current meta.

Also, the legacy meta is very slow to change. most people make a deck and continue to play it for the rest of their time in magic. because of that, I think you will have plenty of fun and success with either deck. that being said, you should build whichever one suits your style best. if both are equally as appealing, go with the one that is easier to build

12 Post, because we beat Show and Tell with our critters swinging first and mainboard Karakas. :-P
I'm biased, because I play 12 Post. But... 12 Post does have really good matchups in the meta due to the land toolbox and pillow fort capabilities. Mono can be built for around $1,200.00; / for about $2,500.00 or so due to Show and Tell, Tropical Island, and so forth. S&T also has good matchups, but is a bit more all in than 12 Post.
Do some research, proxy cards, then make a decision. Def proxy cards.

I personally have shifted from Loam Pox to Storm in Legacy. I figure that I have standard to do fair things in, and I don't really want to play legacy, so I just combo off a few times and I have the rest of the round to watch other matches.
But if you're stuck between those two archetypes mentioned, Defs 12 post. Why would you cheat an eldrazi into play turn 3 when you can just hardcast it?

Play zombardment, very well positioned right now and cheaper than others financially

Does anyone have an example of 12-post? I am not really sure how it plays/what it does...

I don't have a deck put up, but basically it runs Vesuva, Cloudpost, and Glimmerpost (which is where the name 12 post comes from). it also plays Eye of Ugin, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, and Kozilek, Butcher of Truth as win conditions. Primeval Titan to ramp and some utility lands like Karakas, Glacial Chasm and sometimes Bojuka Bog

Ok, thanks, I had heard of 12-Post before but I didn't know what it actually was.

I would say sneak in show is more competitive, but 12 post is a bit more fun. I personally play Punishing Jund which I think is one of the best decks at the moment
