I Live in china and wanted to play some booster draft with my friends. I understand how draft works what I don't get is how you end up with 45 cards. Each booster pack has 10 commons,3 uncommons and 1 rare/mythic.
So with three packs each, wouldn't you end up with 42 cards?

If anybody could Explain this, i'd really appreciate it.

Well, every pack also has 1 basic land too.

But you get to add as many lands as you want. Surely they're not included are they.

Yes, they are.

The contents of any booster, excluding foils is 1 rare/mythic, 3 uncommons, 10 commons, 1 basic land from that set and 1 token/advertisement card.

Most people when drafting choose to simply put the land away when they open the packs before they pass it to the next person, as it is useless in draft, but it still is there.

If you draft what you want to play/cards you want and then build your deck, it's usually best to go 16/17 basic lands and the rest creatures/spells.

So although you'll have more cards drafted, it's best to build a functioning deck rather than just using all the cards you've drafted.

you and up with 42 cards and 3 lands. You than add more lands to build 40 card decks. 16-17 lands to 23-24 cards and I'd push for 12-18 creatures 18 being optimal. Also watch your mana curve as too many high or low 2cmc creatures can lead to deck performance issues. Also 2 color decks tend to be the norm you can do 3 color but really need mana fixing to do that.
