Can somebody teach me Draft?

Limited forum

My buddies are wanting me to go draft with them on Saturday. I have no idea how to do it. I was wondering if someone could Skype call me to help teach me the basics. It will be Origins draft so any help will do. I'll give skype name if someone is willing. :D

Over skype? An article on how to draft or some general outlines for Origins draft format would do just the same. Surely, you want to learn from actual pros who are paid to write professionally about Magic rather than someone random on the internet.

Youtube has tons of drafting and how-to videos.

You can also do some free phantom drafts on mtgo as a new user

Some people learn better from acoustic, verbal information than they do from visual, verbal information.

8bitMick - if you want to leave your Skype address on my wall I will add you, but I live in the UK which is 5 hours ahead the East and more for central and West.

Drafting is a lot of fun! Take a card, pass the pack, build a deck!

Just... don't be that guy that takes the rare out of every pack. That guy is a dick.

ROMzombie I beg to differ. As someone whose budget for things in general- much less Magic- hovers closer to 0 than away from it, if I draft it's a huge thing and I go into it with the intention of making my money back. If I make enough money back off it, then I'll go do another draft and just draft for pure fun. I love drafting in general, and I'm going to have fun whether I'm drafting for value or drafting just to draft.

canterlotguardian & ROMzombie I get what both of you are saying. I intend on making my money back, in enjoyment. I'm gonna build the best deck I can. I'm hoping for one chase rare, maybe 2. I want to go for Red/White in Origins. Seeing all the 2/2s with renown

Boros aggro is definitely a thing again, both in Limited and Constructed. My Standard deck atm is Boros aggro, and omg is it good.

I have an Izzet Standard Deck that has beaten Modern decks quite blissfully. I've only lost a handful of times due to mana screw

do you have it up on the site? I'd love to take a look at it, as a mostly loyal member of the Izzet League. (I cheat on them occasionally with the Boros whenever the fancy strikes me. lol)

8bitMick Don't get caught in the idea that you have to draft that one archetype. Obviously if it is there go for it! But if not don't worry just draft the best deck you can in your seat. :)

Drafting often shoves you into archetypes you don't commonly play, and colors that you may not use often. You have to just roll with it. :-)
