Dragons of Tarkir prerelease choice!

If you are attending the DTK prerelease I'd like to know which clan you will be choosing and why. I know this might be a little to early since a large portion of the cards haven't been spoiled yet, but....who cares!
I'm personally going into the prerelease choosing "Silumgar" aka blue black. My reason behind choosing that clan is that I opt to play blue/black as often as I can. And I have challenged myself to attempt to build the absolute slowest control deck I can possibly make. I know this sounds like a bad idea, forcing an archetype before even seeing my card pool. But I like the idea of going all in on a specific strategy and seeing how far I can take it. After all, it is just a prerelease!
What are you choosing? What did you choose at the previous ones? Did your previous clan work out for you?

I'm choosing Dromoka, which is a rather big deviation from my previous two choices, as I ran Temur midrange in both KTK and FRF, to moderate success. I guess I'm just banking on being able to snag an easy Dragonlord Dromoka for my Mayael the Anima EDH deck. Lol

I'm not sure whether I'm picking Ojutai, or Silumgar yet. One of the two for sure.

I'll play Atarka first, then I'll try Silumgar. Kolaghan seems pretty interesting, too. The others aren't that appealing to me, but we'll see. I'm crazy like that and will most likely play five prereleases, to on the last two or three I'll just pick what I liked the most/seemed to most fun when others played it.
Yea, I know, 125 Euros is a lot, but to me, it's worth it.

Going with Oujatai! I love blue white so my decision wasn't very hard, haha.

Atarka all the way. Gotta keep my core of Green running strong and there are some very awesome cards showing for RG in this set.

Atarka because I like beating face. I think if I do a 2nd prerelease I'll probably do Ojutai because blue/white seems to have gotten a lot of cool stuff so far. Kolaghan would be third choice. Combos that don't involve red or blue don't interest me.
March 10, 2015 3:42 p.m.
Personally, I'm going Ojutai, because I LOVE all the new Ojutai cards spoiled and I'm also a control nut. However, if I were to pick something else, I would have to go with Atarka. All of the Atarka cards seem amazing for midrange, an archetype I don't really play too often. I absolutely love Atarka's Command and Dragonlord Atarka herself, and I think that even the brood's uncommon, Savage Ventmaw, is absolutely bonkers.

Ooh I forgot about Atarka's Command. Maybe I will run Atarka after all. Stay true to my Temur roots.

I'm also going Atarka since I did temur at the last 2

From what I have seen in other Forums Atarka is the overwhelming favorite. As of right now it has a lot of crazy strong power available. Granted we don't know exactly what cards we can get in the seeded packs yet either.
I want to go Atarka because I want her foil... but I also think Dromoka Defense could be really strong.

Ojutai (I might have Ojutai fanfics... I've said too much) and if they run out of Ojutai, I'll most likely run Dromoka. Both are massive bombs.

Ojutai or Atarka are both really good to me. Not sure I know which one to go though. I'm probably only doing 1 prerelease, so I can only pick 1. Ojutai is so good, but Atarka is so good, but Ojutai is good, but Atarka is also so good...

Going to wait until more are released, but probably Atarka or Dromoka. Might just choose based on the dice.

Atarka or Kolaghan. Atarka and her brood's prerelease style rares look more playable, but I played mardu on the other 2 prereleases and want to continue my streak.
March 10, 2015 10:48 p.m.
Ojuita or Atarka for me. The cards themselves look really sweet in those colours, plus it seems to have the best Rare/Mythics we will see played outside of Standard.
March 11, 2015 6:41 a.m.
Probably Ojutai or Silumgar. I play islands when I can.
Kolaghan aggro looks like it could be the most successful archetype though. Red received a lot of good, aggressive creatures and prerelease is bound to be glacially slow with the number of 6+ CMC dragons.

Well guys, tomorrow we get the whole set. I'll review my choices then.

I personally think that Atarka and Drokoma are the strongest... just my opinion though.

With the new spoilers, Black looks really strong, Blue looks good as usual, green is eh, and red and white look average. I may revise my previous choice and go Silumgar.

Torn between RB and GB for prerelease. I might try a standard Jund for fun though.
March 15, 2015 2:42 p.m.
Ojutai would be my first choice, though I'm worried that the lack of Red is going to severely weaken them... Very interested to see how that turns out. I'm also very interested in Kolaghan, the Dragonlord looks like an aggro dragon deck is going to be a little overpowered.

We are going for two headed with Dragonlord Atarka and Dragonlord Dromoka. Atarka's Command is 6 free damage + bolster seems nice for limited + Reds pool is looking really nice

I think I'm going Kolaghan because black and red have the best removal at common/uncommon (Flatten, Defeat, Sarkhan's Rage, Twin Bolt at common, Draconic Roar, Death Wind, Foul-Tongue Invocation, Seismic Rupture, Roast, Ultimate Price at uncommon).
These are the cards I want to get some of with the seeded pack, then I'll see what bombs I can combine them with. The rare is just 1 card from the seeded booster, so I won't let that decide my choice. I'd rather use a different bomb combined with a couple of good removal spells than to have just a bomb, possibly in 2 colors and limiting the support options.

Been going through the lists a few times now and I feel like Black might be the best limited colour. Self-Inflicted Wound, Deathbringer Regent, Coat with Venom, Flatten, Foul-Tongue Shriek, Mind Rot, Ukud Cobra, Ultimate Price and Sidisi, Undead Vizier are bombs in limited in my eyes, and that's why I will probably try Silumgar and Kolaghan even though I didn't even like Kolaghan that much in the first place. Atarka still, obviously, I want to try that.
For the Two Headed Giant I'd enjoy playing an Aggroish Lineup in one deck, backed up by some kind of control in the second.

I'm going with Kolaghan for sure. Dash is a powerful mechanic that is also very fun to play. Red and Black also seem to have the best removal. Aggressive mechanics coupled with good removal equals a win in my book.
March 16, 2015 4:18 p.m.
I'm going Atarka with mine, second option is Ojutai and Kolaghan third.
I love beating face, and also run R/G monsters in Standard, so to be able to add immediately to my decks and smash at the pre-release will be throughly enjoyed!
March 17, 2015 9:58 a.m.
I'm really struggling between Atarka and Ojutai. Atarka gives me access to some really great dragons and burn/fight spells. While Ojutai has good removal, card draw, and the seeded pack feels more powerful.
Any advice?

silumgar, I played temur at khans, and kolaghan at frf, I wanted a new play style, and ojutai and dormoka don't feel right.

How did everyone do. I picked kolaghan and just plowed through everyone. My deck was moving at lightning speed dash after dash. Noone could keep up. I was pretty happy with it. My promo was Pitiless Horde that dash for five in their face plus I had two Sarkhan's Rage and two Foul-Tongue Invocation wreaking havoc with Impact Tremors On the field every tome I dashed was too much for them to handle.
March 21, 2015 11:07 a.m.
Has anyone put together a list of what promos are found in what prerelease packs? I saw Anafenza, the Crater elemental, the board wipe black dragon, and the green avatar pulled last night.
lemmingllama says... #2
What I play would mainly be affected by what I got in my pool.
That being said, I'd probably get the Ojutai or Atarka seeded packs. Both have the most exciting options, and have strong rares and uncommons. Right now I'd say that Bant midrange would be the most fun to run for a sealed deck, but that also depends on what kinds of color fixing we are given.
