Best Planeswalker (Lore Wise)

Who do you think is the best Planeswalker from Magic stories? I feel Liliana and Elspeth have the best stories and character development.
Lore wise, Mr Bolas decided to rip through the fabric of space and climb through planes long long before his spark ignited. He has an intricate web of underlings, who have their own underlings. And before the Mending, he was THE top dog. After the mending his power levels dropped a bit, but I still believe he is still top dog or tied for it. Tied with who? I have no flippin clue as I haven't read much lore as of late.

There was a demon leviathan planeswalker before Bolas killed it after a months long battle, right? No chance of a planeswalker card now. Fml.

Probably Bolas. He is so old and powerful that he has to have seen and done some incredible shiz.

Karn is pretty badass. He kind of shows up places, says "Aw hell no" and then fixes things. Just waves his hands (or claps, whatever) and then everything is cool.
However, I will always love Tamiyo. She is the only non-confrontational planeswalker I know of. She goes places to learn about them, not to exert her will upon the world. She goes to Innistrad to figure out why the moon is made of silver, then the Gatewatch shows up and Jace drags her into things.
So yeah, a little incoherent, but Karn is probably the most powerful and Tamiyo is my favourite.

The best in which field?
The best in character development is likely Elspeth.
The most powerful is likely a toss up between Nicol Bolas and Urza. Ugin too, possibly, as it isn't out of the question Bolas merely caught him off guard/got lucky.
The wisest/smartest is obviously Bolas until Ugin stops trying to sound snobby and shows us he knows more than he's letting on.
However my person favorite outside of these is Karn, as he is the most good intentioned and compassionate. Think about all the Gatewatch members' oaths.
"For the sake of the multiverse"
"For the life of every plane"
"For justice and peace"
These are all more or less subjective and personal to the one who spoke them, it shows what they care about, what they're fighting for and against specifically. But I feel like, if Karn were to join, he'd say
"Because it's the right thing to do, I will keep watch."
Maybe just me, idk.

I don't know why, but I really like Ob Nixilis. Those first person UR's were cool, and he kind of 1v3'd the Gatewhatch - Chandra.

y'all say karn which is funny cuz one of my favorites is venser, who gave karn that spark... my favorite is probably elspeth though. I was quite devastated when wizards sent her to the underworld

@ tempest that is why Elspeth is the best! She knew she would die, but still went into Nyx to kill Xenagos. Godsend (Parts 1 & 2) by Jenna Helland was boss

thats not how it went, is it? I thought she killed xenagos per Heliod's instruction, then was killed by Heliod who feared her power. Godsend was the weapon Heliod gave her to kill xenagos

Elspeth went on her own will, actually trying to avoid Heliod when journeying into Nyx because he blamed her for Xenagos' ascension to godhood and wanted her dead as soon as Xenagos became a god. Heliod killed Elspeth on her way out of Nyx when she was weary from battling a god. Godsend was originally a sword that Heliod and Purphoros dropped out of the sky. Elspeth's first world to planeswalk to was Theros and conveniently when this happened. She picked up the sword before planeswalking away. Later, in the Theros block, Heliod turned it into a spear when she became his champion. You can see Godsend in sword form on Elspeth's cards pre-Theros. I highly reccomend Godsend by Jenna Helland to anyone who hasn't read it. It made me, a black mage whose favorite planeswalker was Liliana, fall in love with Elspeth.

What?! You mean to tell me Storm Crow hasn't made the list yet?
All jokes aside, I personally like Garruk's lore. Just something about a half-crazed planeswalker hellbent on revenge that makes me happy.

If Garruk finds Liliana, she will beat the crap out of him.

For my favourite walker, it's got to be Sorin. For most powerful, it would be Karn/Bolas. Speaking only on who is currently alive.

My ranking goes something like this:
1.Bolas/Sorin 2.Karn/Ugin 3.Ob Nixilis
Bolas and Sorin pretty much do whatever the hell they want, without anyone stopping them. Karn and Ugin are nearsighted and at least in Ugin's case, intent on saving the world. Ugin could be very powerful, but is content to tell Sorin and Nahiri to save the world.Ob Nixilis is like sorin and bolas but without all the power and henchmen.

I'm a simple man with simple desires, so Sarkhan is my favourite. He just wants to be around dragons, and Bolas just manipulates such a simple desire and fucks it all up. Then after everything becomes clear again, his true desire hasn't changed.

Up until the shadows over innistrad stories, ID have gone with Sorin, hand down. But the dismissive way he dealt with Nahiri, and self righteous war he waged after she brought his desisions to his doorstep, I'm less impressed with him. I guess we needed a reminder that, while he channels white mana and believes in order, he's still a self serving vampire, and his nature should not be ignored.
All that said, I REALLY want more ral zarek stories. WIZARDS PLEASE!

Tamiyo isn't exceptionally powerful, not exceptionally relevant, and not exceptionally likable. She's cold, uncaring, so much so that she attempted to destroy an entire plane to kill Emrakul, without consulting the planeswalkers she aligned with, then refused to join the Gatewatch because she's not a fighter.
She's cool and intelligent, and she's at least vaguely aware now of Emrakul's sentience which may be important down the road, but she's not my favorite by quite a stretch.

Lore wise .... Id have to vote Liliana as having the best/most interesting story.... the pacts with 4 demons and quest to slay them is kinda cool and toss in the seduction/manipulation of Jace for a twisted "love/romance" element works for me... joining the gatewatch to basically "debt" them/use them for her own exploits is gonna be fun to see. I find her to be a dynamic character. A complicated mix of hero/anti-hero/vileness
