Brago and Nekusar: Two Halves of the Same Person?

I don't read lore, so I'm sure somebody can clear this up really quickly for me. I just was playing EDH and noticed the very similar crowns, clothing, hair, architecture etc. and got to wondering. Ultimately, I thought it would be really cool for their to be a zombie-fied evil half of some king as well as an ascended, celestial, spirit half, or else maybe alternate universes. They did something along those lines with Mikeaus . . .
For reference:
Mikeaus was nothing like that. He was a relative of Ghoulcaller Gisa and Stitcher Geralf , who are siblings. Mikaeus, the Lunarch was a influential figure in the town of Thraben, and a priest of Avacyn. Gisa and Geralf wanted to take over/destroy the town, so they assassinated Mikeaus, which Liliana then thought it would be funny to reanimate him into a zombie, which ended up being Mikaeus, the Unhallowed .
I don't know the lore for the two of them, but I don't think they are connected. Coincidence probably. The name is different the colors are different, the only connections are both are kings and both have similar crowns. Not enough for me.

To be clear, I was just saying that Mikeaus had two cards for him, one evil one good, I know the story around it.

yeah but the connection you made between mikaeus and the other two is irrelevant. It's not along the same lines as them even if Brago and Nekusar were the same person/thing, which they arn't. The two kings have, like I said, 2 diferent names, completely different MULTI colors, and flavor text completely unrelated to each other. The two Mikaeus are obviously the same guy. I think if they wanted them to be the same, it would be pretty clear. Plus one is from Conspiracy and one is from Commander 2013. Both completely unconnected to the best of my knowledge.

and you did say you don't know about the lore, obviously it was going to get explained to you.

although your not the first person to make this assumption, I really don't think that is the case. If anything, they are rivals from the same plane.

Fair enough, I just had looked into the backstory for Mikeaus(s) due to the fact that I pulled both within a week of each other and thought having the pair was cool (both now reside in opposing EDHs). My disclaimer was kind of a red herring to the topic.
That being said, is it at least a cool idea that there could be a celestial representation of (perhaps not the same person) "kingship" and an (if not demonic) evil representation? Also note how both cards refer to or imply some kind of rule/tyranny beyond death.

"Nekusar is a former king who schemed to retain his power even after death. In life, he was an unpopular ruler with many enemies. He was obsessed with the machinations of his court and threats to his reign. When one of his plots to assassinate a rival backfired, Nekusar was killed in his own throne room. But he had prepared for his eventual death, and he transformed himself into a lich lord. Nekusar has positioned himself as the secret power of the realm, and now he monitors the court with his network of informants, both living and undead. He offers knowledge to the highest bidder but at a painful price. Nekusar has more power now than ever. He devastates his enemies by giving them what they think they want but cannot control."

I don't know if they really are connected, I don't really think so... but just to make things a little more difficult to telln for sure. Brago, King Eternal 's flavor text says "my rule persist beyond death itself" and Nekusar, the Mindrazer is a zombie and his flavor text could possibly be referencing how Brago made his flavor text come to fruition. Just a little food for thought I guess lol.

abenz419, Nekusar is a Lich. Completely different thing. It's like a Chrysler versus a Bugatti. (just a D&D player passing through!)

Like I said I don't really think they're connected I was just adding a little to the conspiracy lol They vaguely seem to reference each other, but Brago's is actually referring to the fact that he's a spirit and ruling after death.

Thanks abenz, I agree that the similarities are intriguing, and wonder if wizards was nodding at some concept or correlation, maybe an abstract one, in their design. Could also be coincidental.

Well, with Mikaeus, the Lunarch he was killed and became Mikaeus, the Unhallowed . There wasn't anything split or parallel about it. He died, he was zombified. As for Brago, King Eternal and Nekusar, the Mindrazer , I dunno. They do have very similar crowns at least.
