Bolas gives his side of the story and works his deceit in Naiva

I see it less as a matter of being weak-willed so much as an individual being susceptible to mind-control. If I recall, Bolas 'did' make someone kill a family member back in Arcades' city, did he not? It appears to be his influence, unless I misunderstand his abilities.
It's definitely interesting getting his perspective on things. I agree with you regarding the honesty of the accounting, and I'm finding the embellishments a bit much.

I'd say the word choices and the tone of the story tell it all, and comparing both accounts, Ugin's story was much more convincing than Bolas's because of that.

I also believe that it is safe to presume that Bolas's comment about him being the one who gave the plane of Dominaria its name was also him stroking his own ego.

Not all of what Bolas is saying is lies. For the most part we can take Ugin's perspective of events as truth, but I believe Bolas tells the truth whenever he talks about his justifications for his various actions and feelings. That is, except for the duel. I really think we need to see Ugin's point of view of their duel and I think we will get it and his explanation of how he survived.
Another point of note is that previously the first known planeswalker duel was between Bolas and a leviathan planeswalker. That duel was witnessed on Dominaria. According to this story, Ugin was the first other planeswalker Bolas ever met. Therefore, their first duel now gets to be known as the first ever planeswalker duel. The alternative version is that the two duels are actually one in the same and whoever reported the leviathan as Bolas's opponent actually saw Ugin and mistook what he was. However, the one in the same theory is shaky since the leviathan died on Dominaria and Ugin was defeated in the Meditation Realm.
Also in other news: Bolas didn't create the Meditation Realm! How cool is that?! He just adopted it as his own and doesn't let others in uninvited.

It does not surprise me that Bolas has his own account of the story between him and Ugin, and that it portrays him in a much more favorable view, but, given that he is well-known for being arrogant, the veracity of his story is uncertain at best.
However, Bolas did reveal some very important information; first, he knew about Ugin and Azor's plan to imprison him on Ixalan, and, second, that plan happened before Bolas and Ugin's climactic battle on Tarkir, meaning that it was a very long time before the current story.
I really hope that Naiva does not kill Baishya, as that would be too cruel, and I cannot believe that she was so weak-willed, or that her love for her sister was so weak, that she could actually be influenced by Bolas in such a manner.
