Confused about Xenagos

So is he a planeswalker that became a god or both or what? I'm a little lost. Lol
GoldGhost012 says... #3
I think that it's implied that he lost his spark though.

Now, that's not to say that we won't see him in future sets since part of Xenagos' back story involves him travelling the planes and returning home. Combine this with the fact that they don't necessarily print sets chronologically.
Actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, its more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey...stuff. - David Tennant

If he lost his spark it would kind of feel like being a God would be a downgrade from being a Planeswalker... I wouldn't take that trade.

@DrFunk27 ~ not sure if you're serious or not (due to the lol) but I'd strongly disagree that he's lame.

Thanks for the clarifcation. Where do you all find the lore stuff?

@Bestach the reason is that he wanted to be a big fish in a small pond rather than small fish in the big pond of the multiverse.
@Bellock86-- check out the page Planeswaker's guide to born of the gods
and for lore articals Uncharted realms
and frankly him loosing his planeswalker's spark kinda seems unrealistic because once he gets kicked out of god-hood he's then would just be a regular satyr again so i'm glad because that opens any chances for future story involving him.

Ohthenoises bonus points for the successful Doctor Who reference! haha :D

That's what I never get about planeswalkers... if MTG won't follow time rules, and therefore us players won't follow them as well... So Xenagos can pretty much walk between the planes and not necessarily come back to the same plane on the same time... Heck, for all we know, he could've just rewritten the entire Theros History, making himself the god and therefore "killing off" some other god (btw, I hate the idea that Purphoros is dead, Fall of the Hammer fills my heart with tears).

EvenDryke I don't know, it's just a feeling, you know? There're probably gonna have a huge ass battle at Journey into Nyx... all speculation btw, but still...

@TheAmazingSalsa-- where do you have this knowledge? Fall of the Hammer means exactly that a hammer blow... nothing more...

Oh yeah, just read the flavor text... I feel a bit stupid, but happy that the best god ever is still alive <3

My thoughts are that he is a god only on the plane of Theros. Which makes sense. The other gods don't have power on say.... Shandalar.

Wasn't it pointed out that gods cannot kill other gods? Hence the recruitment and importance of Elspeth going to Nyx to get rid of Xenagos?

osang21 Fuck that, I'm rooting for Xenagos to rip elspeth's head with a fork.

@osang21 - yes God cannot kill gods, and People originally from Theros cannot kill gods either- Aka.. the need for Elspeth

@EvenDryke- well it is from innistrad... so it stands to make sense.. :P

That cracks me up. So all of these almighty indestructible gods can be banished by Silverchase Fox . That is totally hysterical. I like xenagos as both a planeswalker or a god (flavor wise) but I must admit to liking his PW card better. Xenagos, The Reveler Vs. Xenagos, God of Revels

I'm curious as to whether Kiora will help get rid of Xenagos.

TheAmazingSalsa, I shared your grief for a brief minute too, but i posted it on here, and got a timely explanation, so phew!
Another thing about Xenagos i've been wondering is wether or not he lost his planeswalking abilites as soon as he ascended to the pantheon, but Maro answered that question in his blog a few days ago, and no, he did not lose his powers as a planeswalker.
What i'm more curious about is how they can make Xenny even more bad ass than he is now? If you look at the art for JTN, he just looks so muvh more massive and powerful than he does in BnG.
Is he still going to be G/R Legendary enchantement creature - god, or something else?
January 28, 2014 3:58 a.m.
FaustHarbinger says... #26
@Oletorpedo -- he is confirmed to be both a god and a planeswalker but he is not confirmed to be able to planeswalk AS A GOD. It is very possible for him to not be able to planeswalk while he is a god. that ability could be "bound". We will find out more when Jenna Helland's novel releases.

@ FaustHarbinger - Thanks for the clarification. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

KrosanTusker says... #29
So if he planeswalked to another plane, would he be a god there? For example, Zendikar's "gods" turned out to be eldrazi, and I doubt they'd be happy with Xenagos copying their thing. If Xenagos could use his "god-powers" on any other plane, wouldn't that make him a rival to ancient powerful 'walkers like Sorin (not quite on the level of Nicol Bolas or Karn, obviously)?

Ohthenoises says... #30
I don't care what you say KrosanTusker, Sorin Markov is such a brutal character that I doubt Xenagos could do much to scare him. :P

KrosanTusker says... #31
True enough!
So I guess that Xenagos is just a "normal" planeswalker when on any other plane?
January 29, 2014 12:30 p.m.
FaustHarbinger says... #32
@KrosanTusker -- as stated many times before in this forum We don't know. its all just speculation. the only thing Doug will admit at this time is that He is a god AND he still has his planeswalker's spark. that DOES NOT mean he can planeswalk at this time. Until the Novel comes out we will have no official confirmation.

KrosanTusker says... #33
OK! That's a good way of making people buy the novel!
Epochalyptik says... #2
Yes. He's a planeswalker that entered Nyx and became a god, much to the chagrin of the other gods.
