The Theros spoiler keeps saying "Dack Fayden returns!" but I've never heard of Dack Fayden before. Was he in one of the books or something?

Unfortunately not.

I am disappointed. He's just getting another set of comics.

I'm pissed lol they made some semi-hype about Dack Fayden and they didn't even include him as a planeswalker? Maybe in the following sets we'll see him immortalized on a card

Nah, he'll be Wizards' little pet, working in the background.

He'll be like Urza. We'll never see him in a card, but he'll be doing everything.

Maybe that could be part of the allure about him. He's a planeswalker that we only know about through the comics. Kind of like how we only know about Lord Windgrace through the lore.

I think Dack Fayden will make an appearance later in the block (either as a planeswalker or some "thing" (spell) he does to help or hinder Elspeth)

What I have noticed is that in the expansion for Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014, he is a planeswalker to duel against (U/R) with a deck called "Doge and burn" basically an izzet control/burn deck.

Does this give validity to him being an Izzet color aligned planeswalker?

@harrydemon117 - I would say that it does. lore wise Thieves are blue,

.. and he does occasionally use burning (or shocking) tricks to get out of situations which explains the Red.

I personally am happy that WOTC finally made some validity to Dack being in the main stream of things. Ral used to be in the same slot until Wizards fit him in the RTR block. But this isn't the only thing that WOTC has produced that shows Dack in them the other cards that have been produced so far are Bred for the Hunt and in the flavor text Artificer's Hex

I also think that there will be more of an "equipment" thing in the rest of this block (either the next set or both). Dack went to Ravnica looking for artifacts and then Planeshifted to Theros to continue his hunt for "treasure".

It would also seem to fit the "hero" theme of finding a magic weapon to thwart an evil monster too

harrydemon117, I agree. Why else would they print Artificer's Hex in M14?

harrydemon117, This just further proves my earlier theory that he could be an Izzet or Grixis Planeswalker. While him being 3-colored is highly unlikely, I'm happy to say that my prediction is somewhat more viable than everyone saying he's UB. Lol thanks.

He's definitely just UB. I don't see the black in him. He just seems too much of a decent person to embody a selfishness that puts others at risk. He is selfish, but he doesn't like getting other people in a position where they'll get hurt.

I think you mean UR* UB includes black...

But the black in him combined with the blue is noted by the fact that he's a notorious Thief.

Thieves are common vocations for the Dimir.

My bad, I was typing a bit fast.

While I see the point in that, I just can't see him as black because of how I identify him with other notorious thieves/smugglers from other series, most notably that of Mal Reynolds. I can see the blue because he's cunning and pursuing knowledge, the red because he's whimsical, and maybe the black because he's selfish, but he still does his best to not harm people with his misadventures. Besides, his rival was full Grixis, so why would his color identity be the same as his archnemesis?

That's just my two cents on this whole thing.

They say that opposites attract and similarities repel so maybe Grixis makes him queasy because he himself is like it? I don't know..
