Is Nicol Bolas the only elder dragon still alive? if so, what happened to the others? I am relatively new to the lore of magic, and I would like to know. thanks in advance!

Five elder dragons survived the elder war, Nicol Bolas being the most powerful. He became a planeswalker after this and the others just went away somewhere or all died. Thats what MTGS says.

We know that Chromium Rhuell is dead, and that Arcades Sabboth was presumably killed by Kristina, in her duel with Leshrac.
Vaevictis Asmadi attacked Palladia-Mors , but she reversed one of his spells, and he disappeared from the battle. It is possible that Vaevictis Asmadi survived the duel, but there is no conclusive evidence, which may mean his cousin killed him in their duel. It is very likely he died as a result of the fight, as Bolas has stated that none of his peers still exist.
And as for Palladia-Mors , we are not sure. Bolas has stated on several occasions that he is all that remains of the Elder Dragons.

Also, due to the loyalty we all owe Nicol Bolas there should be no reason why we should not believe him. ;)

Nicol Bolas has a vast network of spies across the multiverse, does he not? Presumably, if one of the elder dragons were still alive from the dragon wars, they would have had to go into a hibernation hidden deep underground to evade detection, lest Bolas find and kill them,

I think it would be pretty cool if another elder dragon had the spark and became a planeswalker. it would make for a very interesting story line.

I would like to see Niv Mizzet, become a planeswalker. Maybe he receives training from Bolas in apprenticeship, or perhaps in secret opposition to Bolas' scheming. Either way, a new dragon planeswalker would definitely get Bolas' attention, and I don't think he has a lenient policy on dragon planeswalkers who aren't loyal wholly to him.

According to Nicol Bolas , Nicol Bolas is the last of the Elder Dragons. And Nicol Bolas may or may not have killed off any other survivers of the Elder Dragon War himself.
In case you didn't know, the Elder Dragon War was a period of time where the Elder Dragons, well, went to war with each other. And killed each other off.
All this without consulting MTGSalvation. Should probably check my facts...
