The new UR on Gideons origin. here. while epic, pretty much 100% different than what was told in the Purifying Fire novel

Only if you mean that the Purifying Fire novel told us almost nothing and this explains his whole story. If memory serves, all we were told in the book is that he used to be a street tough and became a hieromancer, which lines up perfectly with the new origin story. What it doesn't line up with is the intro in DotP 2012, which was declare non-canon by the creative team.

I wonder what Heliod would think of Kytheon/Gideon now that he's a planeswalker? Will he butcher him like he did with Elspeth?

I feel like this is a setup for a Return to Theros:

Gideon returns, says "Yo, Heliod!" while he's at it. He encounters Ajani, they fight (Gideon still devoted to Heliod?), he learns of Elspeth's death at the hands of the god he served. He goes into the Underworld, fights Erebos, encounters Elspeth and his Irregulars, all the while having one massive showdown against Heliod and Erebos (and Athreos?). Elsepth is resurrected, and Gideon goes all 50 shades of Grey on her. The end.

ABadMagicPlayer100 although the novel doesnt go over much, i liked how gideon's mentor new that he had a planeswalker spark and explained to gideon what planeswalkers were so he wasnt blind sided when his spark ignited

Phaetion MTG rule 34? Not in canon storyline, but someone out there's already done it.

In all seriousness though, that sounds like a pretty good way to do the Return to Theros storyline if they ever decide to go back, without the last part of course ;)

However, it sounds very white-and-black oriented. As in all of the focus characters would be white and black, leaving out the other three, and I think I heard somewhere from Wizards that they don't like white being the "always good and justice" color and black being "always the bad guy" color (example would be Xenagos, a green-red guy being the main antagonist in the Theros block).

MTG rule 34? I'm confused.

I phrased it that way for some humor, and the 50 shades bit was a joke. Seriously though, I may have just given the whole synopsis for Return to Theros. If this is true, then WOTC will have my head delivered to their headquarters on a silver platter. :p

swkelly89 where in the story was planeswalking explained to Gideon? I must have missed it.

The frenetic pace of these stories are a bit off-putting, but they're entertaining nonetheless.

Good read, like a comic almost. I just hope they can keep this up with Battle for Zendikar.
