Kaladesh Lore hint/speculation

Reading through the All New Kaladesh Art that's been floating around, I stumbled upon this little tidbit regarding the inventor's fair.
"The Enlighted Keepers of the Consulate have put out a call for Kaladesh's greatest minds to present their findings in refinement methods, extraction techniques, and especially the reality-bending concept of alternate means of matter transportation. We expect the results to be ground-breaking!"
Could it be possible that the consulate, with or without Dovin Baan's advisement, is trying to develop methods of either creating artificial planeswalkers or planar portals...? Perhaps this is the conflict in Kaladesh, and this apparent resistance is in fact led by at least one planeswalker, Saheeli, trying to prevent it. Perhaps she knows they intend to conquer other worlds?
Near-blind speculation, but "reality warping" and "matter transportation" are concepts which previously could only really be used to describe planeswalking.
Do you think this could be the case? Have you other theories for what's going on?

Sounds like they figured out the Prototype Portal technology. But you know... if that makes an appearance they might inavertantly be summoning creatures, robots, or obejcts from New Phyrexia and we all know that once you get a little bit of that goop on ya you're a goner.
I really doubt they would tie New Phyrexia into Kaladesh but it would be pretty cool to see the signs of Kaladesh's impending doom. I much prefer the subtlety of the Scars of Mirrodin block than the recent story lines.

Oh snap, if Kaladesh has cracked the inter-planar travel technology... That would have so many implications on the multiverse. Obviously we think of Phyrexia first, and its likely that they reverse engineered it from an old Phryexian artifact. However, even failing that, I can think of a certain three-colored Planeswalker who would love the ability to have that technology. If the Phyrexians hear about the portal, then we could be looking at another crisis the size of Old Phryexia.
Failing Phyrexian involvement, Kaladesh having a manufactured planeswalker or an interplanar portal is still bad enough. We don't know their motives yet, but its definitely a huge threat. I'm more excited than ever for this new set now.

I expect the "ground-breaking" part to be quite literal.

I would say it isn't out of the question that Dovin Baan is already an unnatural planeswalker. It's a long shot, but his behavior is odd, even for a Vedalken.
Wanting the Gatewatch, who surely he knew was a group meant to deal with rowdy Planeswalkers and similar, assist with a minor insurrection, as well as his apparent lack of need to rest between planeswalks as evidenced from the Homesick story... Perhaps he's using technology, rather than a manufactured spark, abd that's why he doesn't need to cool down before returning home.
The theory also potentially is backed up by the name of the blocks second set: Aether Revolt. It might mean less of a revolt over aether, and more a revolt against or by aether itself, acting as a natural force disagreeing with people crossing the blind eternities unnaturally.

It's been revealed in the most recent Magic Story-it's a form of teleportation for INORGANIC matter only. So far, the device was able to transport a vase from one end of a room to another, but it scared the hell out of Saheeli.
I guess we'll find out the implications later.

I think it would be awesome if they succeed in creating the portal, travle from dimension to dimension and at one point one traveler has a single drop of dark oil on his coat. Then shit is about to go down.

kanokarob I do believe that in the story where Dovin is first shown he initially asks for helps dealing with vandals only to be told by Jace or Gideon that they only deal with rowdy Planeswalkers to which he says he didn't know the exact basis upon which the Gatewatch operated or something to that effect.
Also totally not Kaladesh related. With the addition of mana to the new Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast I have a feeling maybe our favorite crippled goblin Planeswalker may have stumbled upon the plane of New Phyrexia. Another wide shot in the dark in terms of speculation but when folks start talking of Phyrexian anything I get giddy.

The new story confirms part of my theory. A machine has been designed that can pass matter (albeit inorganic, for now) through the blind eternity. As of now it only acts to transport it somewhere else in the same place, but nonetheless, Saheeli is wary of the implications.
So, right conflict, wrong antagonist.

So we have a machine that pulls inorganic matter through the Blind Eternities, the biggest threat to the multiverse ever just so happens to be an inorganic race, and we're going to the plane of the most evil Planeswalker to ever traverse the multiverse right after this set? Oh and the 2nd set of Bolas' block is called Hour of Devastation. But surely that's just all a coincidence right?
So if I'm tracking this correctly a lot of stuff is about to go down between these next two sets... Ooh boy I can't wait for Kaladesh and everything else that's about to happen.
Also, side note. Have you guys seen Chandra's new art yet??? It's super well done and makes her look amazing.

They already did the "trying to create a planeswalker" thing with Memnarch and Glissa and whatnot. He technically didn't succeed though, so maybe this time's the charm. That'd be pretty boss.
