Kari Zev's Flavor Bothers Me

So I was thinking about Kari Zev, Skyship Raider, and how supposedly flavorful is, when I realized something was wrong. See, the flavor is supposed to be that the token appearing is her monkey buddy, Ragavan, joining her in the battle, then it exiling at the end of combat is it returning to her to rest on her shoulder, but that doesn't quite make sense. If any creature with greater than 0 power blocks Ragavan, or perhaps someone decides to Bolt him, he dies, never returning to Kari Zev, who regardless just sends another Ragavan out anyways next turn.
So what the heck is happening? My best guess is that Kari Zev has the ability to produce monkeys out of thin air.
What do you guys think?
Also, Ragavan is an acronym for vargana. So maybe the monkey crawls back into her vargana at the end of the turn.

not everything in Magic makes sense flavor wise. they have to make the cards balanced and playable.
then again, being a culture that powers everything with aether, who's to say she doesnt have some sort of monkey cloning device on her ship? LOL

My thought is that it's akin to Snowball in the Simpsons. There are numerous Ragavans--at some point between the end of combat step and the beginning of your next combat step, she takes a little excursion to replaces her buddy.
That, or she has a create of the poor souls she keeps in her ship's hold.

The monkey never actually attacks. It's like a clone jutsu ala Naruto. The original monkey is never in harm's way.

Actually,Ravagan is a hyper intellagent monkey inventor, and the tokens are all robots controlled by him from his secret lay .

Id say that Ragavan senses the danger of the bolt, etc. and returns to Karis shoulder before anything bad can happen to him. Then, he comes back to slap the opponent the next turn. (Entirely possible that I just want to make an amazing monkey work because monkey)
