Here is this week's story.

I did not read the story for Ikoria, so is Lukka always prone to starting fights? It is true that the villagers were hostile to him, first, but he escalated the situation by attacking the man.

The Oriq seem to be well-known on the plane of Arcavios, and not many people seem to like them, so they likely cause trouble for everyone.

Beledros Witherbloom is female, but has a masculine name, although I suppose that that is not a major issue.

I really hope that Liliana does not attempt to resurrect Gideon, because that would undermine the emotional impact of his death, and it also shows that she is still clinging to the past and having difficulty with moving forward.

What does Extus have planned? At this point, in both this game and my life, a villain seeking to attain awesome power is nothing new, to me, so I hope that WotC can write a more interesting motive for Extus than the same trope that has been used countless times, by now.

"Is Lukka prone to starting fights?" Yeah, I guess you could say that. He kind of started a war on Ikoria before he sparked.

A little background for those who haven't read the Ikoria story:

Ikoria Story Summary Show

Lukka was a soldier of Drannith who led a squad of elite specialist monster hunters. When they came up against a monster which killed Lukka's squad that is when he discovered he was a bonder. He didn't want the magical bond with the monster and never even gave it a name. He was probably going to be executed for being a bonder so Jirina (Lukka's girlfriend and General Kudro's doughter) helped him escape the city. He eventually absorbed a bunch of extra beast-controlling power from The Ozolith which gave him the ability to forcibly take control of creatures' minds. He saw this as a way that he could protect Drannith with an army of monsters if they would just accept him back. What they saw was an army of monsters heading for the city. Lukka's parley with the General didn't go well and resulted in Lukka murdering the General and proceeding to attack the Drannith army and then Drannith itself. He sparked when he was finally outsmarted by Jirina, Vivien, a group of other Bonders, and the city's defenders.

Lukka is a soldier who no longer has a home to defend (because he's not welcome there). He isn't aggressive but will not back down in a fight; he doesn't necessarily start the fights, but he doesn't try to de-escalate either. His greatest weakness is that he is short sighted and fails to see the bigger picture; he makes whatever choice seems right in the moment with no forethought of how his actions will affect his or others' situations after the current predicament.

Lukka could sense the man behind him was about to cast a spell so he made a pre-emptive strike to avoid taking a cheap-shot spell to the back. He made a quick, in-the-moment decision to attack both the Oriq and the Dragonsguard soldier. I can see Lukka's building frustration at only ever being an outsider.

Wrt Liliana, I agree for story purposes that she should not succeed in resurrecting Gideon. I do think she will try though. Trying, failing, and finally accepting that it can't or maybe even shouldn't be done might provide quite a character development for Liliana. However, I wonder if along the way she might get some Lorehold help to converse with Gideon's spirit using the sural shard. I would be ok with a Gideon cameo like that.
