Lore about Theros (and Zendikar)!

Xenagos's plot, jealous gods, and more in this release! The newest Planeswalker's Guide, The Planeswalker's Guide to Born of the Gods, reveals quite a bit of Theros's lore.

It also covers Kiora, who is a native of Zendikar. The article mentions that the Eldrazi are still ravaging Zendikar, and that Kiora is searching for the magic to fight them.

Like I mentioned in the Death of the Gods? forum where I originally linked this guide as well I find it interesting in how the Gods can't eject Xenagos, nor can he strike down any of the Gods. I'm very interested in reading more on this battle of Akros that ultimately lead to his ascension (and Elspeth's downfall from grace) BNG is shaping up to be pretty legit lore wise, so I'm stoked. As for Kiora I'm glad they go into detail about the Eldrazi still ravaging Zendikar (and possibly alluding to a return there at some point) though when Tamiyo came out people though Kamigawa return was plausible as well. I'm leaning towards a Zendikar return very shortly as we have 2 Planeswalkers who have traveled from Zendikar to seek aid/train on new ways to fight the Eldrazi (looking at Gideon, Champion of Justice )

Hmm...Are we seeing the art for Pharika and Mogis, you think?

I'll admit that I never followed that thread; I saw the first post and the dates on the first page and assumed it was of little connection.

Don't forget, there's also Nissa prowling around somewhere. She allegedly left Zendikar to find Sorin and bring him back (although Nissa royally screwed Zendikar by disregarding Sorin's advice). I can't say I'm too disappointed; I hate Nissa.

Either way, lots of interesting information.

No worries just thought since they both discuss the same thing (now) that a link might be nice. As from what I have read on Nissa, well she's the biggest c*nt in the multiverse and who knows what she's actually trying to do now, maybe hiding in fear somewhere or whatnot.

Personally I do think we saw the artwork for the demi gods.

sorry, for the sake of being anal, they are minor gods not demigods. I would like to see Nissa again and undergo some character development.

Elspeth has finally gotten what she wanted when she first landed on Theros- solitude. But does she want it now? Only time will tell.

Nissa is still traveling the Multiverse looking for Sorin, trying to bitch him into coming back to fix her mistake. God I hope she's eaten by an Eldrazi. The only character development I see her going through is to further her belief that elves are superior, especially if she lands on Lorwyn.

So Kiora is living proof that Zendikar hasn't fallen yet. The inhabitants and mana of Zendikar are fighting back! Sure, they may not be winning, but at least they're slowing the plane's total destruction. Kiora's the third Planeswalker to be searching the Multiverse for help the fight the Eldrazi- sooner or later, their paths should cross.

I smell Ajani coming in and talking Elspeth into returning to the fight and fixing her mistake. In the end Elspeth redeems herself and the gods with Ajani's help. The gods also open to a larger perspective and allow the folks to see beyond them and then those that choose to devote to them, are their true followers. And we go on to zendikar, where we find gideon with some boros legionairres, kiora bringing some kraken and the sorin bringing tamiyo and battle the eldrazi, where the eldrazi are once again locked away in some form of exile and we get a card that shut downs all eldrazi, exclusively for modern/legacy play (ok slipped into design and out of lore, sorry).

pleaase note, all the above is not fact or opinion as much as wants (zendikar parts) and just what I think is the most compelling story we have for the way things are setup.

And then when everyone's beaten down, tired, and half-dead, Nicol Bolas steps in to further his agenda.

Actually on the return to zendikar, I can see the planeswalkers, pushiing the eldrazi to dominaria, where somehow they reopen the rift and mishra shows up after some timewalking and recruits urza to work together (or the other way around) to banish the eldrazi back to the middle plane place they came from and lock that up. This way we can get all 10 fetches back in a flavorful way without having to make up new ones for zendy or explain how zendy has similar land areas that allow for them to exist.
