My Response Show

Aside from the latest member of my Vendetta List, I get the feeling that Nissa will have some character development later on. She questions why she joined, but she cares for (at least) Chandra. Some foreshadowing here. I hope Baral gets burned to a crisp and eaten alive next week. I issue a death sentence against him.

Phaetion I think you should be careful for what you wish for man

What if Baral has a dormant spark; his inevitable fight with Chandra may ignite that and he will be more dangerous than he is now. He'll be harder to kill if he becomes a planeswalker

What I got from this story is how loyal Nissa is; she cares deeply for Chandra; and when the deadlock trap did its thing; Nissa could simply get up and go, but she stayed; she doesn't want to abandon her friends.

This story arc is really awesome. WHY MUST WE WAIT A WEEK FOR MORE!

AgentGreen: Fortunately, he doesn't. Otherwise his "spark" would've ignited at the same time as Chandra's.

Baral does need to die. I'm really loving Nissa as a character as we see more and more of her.

I like how this week's story ended with a cliffhanger, but I am having trouble feeling any sense of tension, since I highly doubt that WotC shall actually kill off two of the main characters of the story.

Like most other users, here, I am hoping to see Chandra defeat Baral in an epic battle, and I also hope that Baral is given a card in the next set. I personally predict that Chandra shall defeat Baral and have him at her mercy, but shall not actually kill him, since she does not wish to be like him and the consulate, although Liliana shall likely attempt to convince her to actually do it.

On that subject, Liliana was conspicuously absent from the action in this story, so I hope that she shall make a dramatic entrance and rescue the others, soon.

Phaetion I don't think that we could fully rule out Baral having a spark just because it didn't ignite in his first fight with Chandra. My understanding of sparking is limited but we know that spark worthy events can happen without your spark igniting (Narset was killed in the original timeline of Tarkir). The stuff we know about ignition is that it comes from a powerful, emotionally-affecting, perspective-altering life event and often a death or near death experience. We also know that many people with sparks don't ever experience ignition, and die without ever becoming a planeswalker. While I will say that it would be unlikely for Baral to have a spark, we cannot be 100% sure that he doesn't just because it didn't ignite when Chandra's did.

DemonDragonJ: Liliana was conspicuously absent because the story's split. She's off figuring out what the hell Tezzeret is doing here and what to do about it. My money is on the next story not resolving the Chandra-and-Nissa-in-a-box situation at all and shifting focus to Liliana and Tezz.

Then that would lead us into a Fateful Showdown where we hope for a Dramatic reversal

All I have to say is Impeccable Timing. Ajani hype!

Yeah, next week is Ajani kicking rear ends and Baral being incinerated. I'm sure that will happen (or Baral the coward escapes but dies in Aether Revolt).
