The uestion I have, how many of you believe Elspeth died at the end of the book? I don't since it wasn't explicitly said she did on screen.
Yes, she did trade herself for daxos to return and he did, probably not as she wanted though.
But mainly because it wasn't onscreen that she actually died, I have a hard time imagining she did. I suspect that the rest and peace she wants with death, will not come to her.
But I do think she's been given a long break from the story's.
What's your opinion?
I'd say that all stories of major Planeswalkers eventually resolve, but we have yet to see Koth's story resolved. Last we saw him, he was holding a bomb in a Phyrexian palace and made Elspeth planeswalk away from Mirrodin.

This brings up an interesting philosophical thought for me, If all souls that die on Theros end up with Erebos it would stand to reason that Elspeth's spirit would be there. Could Wizards bring her back? Would this reanimated Elspeth have B in her color identity now?

Ohthenoises She traded her soul for daxos's with erebos and is supposed to be in his realm. Would it be a reanimation or would it be saving her from his realm whole?

Not sure, it's just an interesting thought. If her soul were still in tact then she could be brought back at a later time. Would she still have her spark? Would she have B? I mean B/W tokens has been a thing for a LONG time now so it's within the realm of possibility.

Yeah, but that part of 'b/w tokens' isn't part of ANY formula for designing mtg cards that I've heard of. If they put 'b' in her cost it's because it fits the flavor and/or story.
Now, I can see her getting 'b', trading her soul for daxos's was a selfish thing she did (part of 'b's motivations). She did it more so she could rest and get away from all the pain and suffering she's been through/seen in her life and so on.

Sorta like the story of Orpheus is Greek mythology...... Ajani has to go in and bring her back! It definitely leaves room for some serious creativity on the part of Wizards.

Personally I think Erebos has plans for her since he has always hated Heliod. Plus people who have died on Theros do have the potential of becoming Gods. If she did die and lost her spark as a result (which is what happens) then I could easily see her rising up later on to challenge Heliod and become the new White God or something like that.
I would be surprised to see her as a walker again any time soon though.

Wow, you guys are tempting me to read the realm stories. I don't think I have read any of the Theros ones.

When a friend told me this I almost shed a tear. then i read the e-book and my heart sank. She may not be my favorite walker but this poor girl did not deserve to be betrayed like that. I sincerely hope she comes back and absolutely destroy that prick of a god called Heliod, whether she comes back as a walker or not, i hope she comes back with a vengeance.
on that note, a planeswalkers spark is linked to their soul, her soul being with erebos means that she will probably be a walker but maybe Returned.

I think, Erebos eventually does the opposite of what Xenagos did...
With Elspeth's soul still living on, she makes a deal With Erebos. She wants her soul to end, and offers her spark to Erebos, in exchange for her end.
Tapping into Elspeth's soul he manages to take her spark, transforming himself from a God into a Planeswalker.
Erebos, Steward of Souls
Now a B/W Planeswalker, he finds that, along with being able to Planeswalk, his abilities are combined between Elspeth's abilities to command armies and his own abilities to command the dead. - He becomes able to summon Undead Soldiers (either Spirit/Soldier, or Zombie/Soldier) on any Plane he visits. - His ultimate would be either to return all creatures from graveyards to the battlefield under your control (or because that's been over done... search you library for any number of Zombie, Spirit, Soldiers, and put them onto the battlefield).
The story line is that Theros is left in Chaos, as no Godly presence over the dead causes a lack of order and mass panic... eventually wars and strange factions.
etc... etc...

My thoughts on the matter:
Elspeth didn't deserve the life she lived. The Multiverse loved to fuck with her, more than most other walkers.
Kiora gets what's coming to her. Up against Thassa herself? She's fucked.
Ajani's just about the most loyal friend anyone could ask for. Willing to fight off Death's attendants in the hope that Elspeth will survive.
Heliod's a giant fucking dick. End of story. He deserves to be smote with Godsend .

GoldGhost012 Reading this spoiler makes me think Heliod should be the black god, as Erebos is more righteous.

When I learned that Heliod killed her after Xenagos had already been dealt with, with Godsend no less, I was tempted to tear up my foreign Heliod, God of the Sun .
I didn't though, cause I convinced myself that my Heliod isn't a dick like story Heliod.
