Here it is; the season premiere of Rivals of Ixalan story.

The Golden City comes into view, with its secrets in sight. But for Jace and Vraska; things are going to get complicated with them when a memory flood hits Jace hard.

This has been my favorite story of the past few years. I LOVE the relationship between Jace and Vraska. Not in a romantic sense (ew half-gorgon babies), but in the way that they mirror each other. Jace helps Vraska deal with her trauma in the Ixalan story, and so then Vraska helps Jace deal with his newly returned memories. And I think Jace is a much cooler character for it.

...Especially now that he's discovered he doesn't have to be a jerk. It was a clever (and satisfying) retcon, but it also opens up tons of new possibilities. Jace and Vraska going back to Ravnica?? Jace confronting Liliana's manipulations? Jace revisiting Vryn? Jace's potential meeting with Azor?

Suffice it to say I'm nerding out about it. I hope this relationship isn't erased by Jace's actions on the second story spotlight...any speculation there?

Now that Jace got his memories back, I actually like the new Jace more. He gained a new perspective on his life, and developed into a much better character than before. I hope Wizards keeps this up. If they do, I'll pick up a Jace, the Mind Sculptor. XD

But, I love how Jace was so willing to forgive Vraska for their first encounter, and how their ship was spared from their past grudge.

Well Jace did say he still doesn't know how he got to Ixalan, so my theory is that Azor will fill in the missing gaps. Then he'll tell Vraska about The Gatewatch and their encounter with Bolas

Not all of his memories, true, but it's enough to make Vraska more sympathetic to Jace.

Reminder that the rest of the story has already been spoiled by the art book, in case anyone hadn't heard. Also, I really like this retcon, it gives a lot more perspective on the flaws of the gatewatch, such as Liliana's manipulation of others, although the author is somewhat blunt at times when stating these flaws (several sentences in a row describing Jace's cowardice).

I gotta say, I enjoyed that immensely. Really digging Vraska/Jace friendship. They're doing a good job holding the line between two interesting characters bonding/relating/growing together and two characters falling in love. Keep it where it is.

I was not a fan at first of them giving Jace's memories back so soon, but I've been converted. This looks like a great direction to take Jace's character and I look forward to seeing his interactions with Lilli/the rest of the gatewatch.

Side note, I hope the vampires get more love in the story. The seem to be pretty important but are given very little time and depth. I hope the win control of the city in the end.

I'm not sure which retcon people are referring to. I noticed that Jace and Alhammarret's duel didn't go exactly the same as in Jace's origin story. This time it was described as though he smashed Alhammarret's mind with brute force. Originally he lowered his own defenses which distracted Alhammarret long enough at ripping through Jace's mind for Jace to counter attack by making Alhammarret forget how to breathe. Originally Alhammarret died but now he just got his mind shattered and so suffered a fate worse than death. I liked the addition of Jace adopting the sphinx's collar shape as a symbol for himself, but his remorse could just as easily been pasted onto him looking at a dead Alhammarret instead.

Suns_Champion I am very eager to see how the rest of the GW reacts when Jace tells the group how much of a manipulative bitch Liliana is. It will also be interesting if their respective colors will matter on whether to forgive or crucify her as a result. Gids will definitely want to crucify her, as would Nissa and likely Ajani, but would Chandra?

Chandra was extremely hurt by Liliana's betrayal so I can't see her being very quick to forgive.

Well that was surprisingly emotional.

Quick question: Why is everyone saying that Jace thinks that Liliana is manipulative and bad all of a sudden? Vraska was the one thinking that during Jace's memeory, but he didn't voice anything negative about her the whole story. The closest he got was:

"I want to believe I do, but how can I choose to be who you think I am when I remember how many times I've let people take advantage of me? How many people I've hurt ..."

Which doesn't imply that he's putting Lili on that list, just that it's happened a lot.
