The season premiere of Dominaria is here. It looks like they're doing it via episodes and not individual titles like before; and WoTC will be working with big name authors to make this experience a huge thing. So, let's get started

I'm so sad about Nissa; she's my favourite.

I would like to predict that the sword presented to Belzenlok could have potential as a weapon against Bolas. It is being touted as a blade with the power to kill an elder dragon.

Poor Josu. I like Liliana returning to her roots as a healer though.

I'm still thinking she will come back

She is considered a main character in the story so....

I was kinda wanting this story to start with Jace on the weatherlight and then Gideon explains what happened in his absence (I.E. then this story would start)

Martha Wells is an excellent writer.

Fun stuff, excited for the rest of the series.

Glad to see a story arc where Liliana can develop a bit more, like Jace did in Ixalan block. Also, the cabal are sweet, Josu was very unexpected, and I'm just picturing Gideon walking through this town (Benalia) where he has a giant hole in his shoulder. And the sword in the beginning is definitely Blackblade Reforged from the DOM spoilers.

This arc has started very nicely.

I was initially annoyed that the other four members of the Gatewatch all arrived at the same plane; what was so different about Jace that eh went somewhere, all alone? And why did only he lose his memory? However, I actualyl was glad that both Nissa and Chandra left, as that shall allow for greater focus on Liliana and Gideon. I believe that it is very safe to presume that Nissa returned to Zendikar, to help rebuild it, but Chandra's destination is less certain, so I shall predict that she went to Regatha, her place of spiritual enlightenment.

I see that the Cabal are still in power on Otaria, as they have not been mentioned in the story since the Onslaught block, more than a decade ago in actuality. With Belzenlok as their new master, defeating him will definitely not be easy. I also suspect that the sword mentioned in the story might be a useful item to use against Bolas, if the Gatewatch can somehow obtain it.

I have been wondering what happened to Jozu, as I suspected that the sibling of a main character would not simply be discarded as unimportant, and I am very pleased to see that he shall be a major character in this arc. It seems to me that the story of this set shall be providing major character development for Liliana, akin to Jace's development in the Ixalan block.

I definitely am very excited about this story, so I shall be following it very closely.

User:DemonDragonJ In the Rivals of Ixalan story, its explained that Ugin put a spell in Jace's mind that if Bolas or anyone would probe it; it would trigger and send Jace to Ixalan.

AgentGreen, yes, I see, but why did Ugin do that? In hope that Jace would meet Azor and collaborate with him (Azor) against Bolas? Why did Ugin choose Jace, of all people?

User:DemonDragonJ Bolas tried to kill Jace, and right before his mind collapsed he planeswalked away. As a failsafe against Bolas; Ugin had a way to make Jace hit Ixalan instead. This way he could meet Azor, score The Immortal Sun, eventually trap Bolas, and f*** em up

Unfortunately Vraska->Tezzeret->Bolas scored the Immortal Sun, so they lost that. But now Jace has his memories and experience from all three lives he's had between the two reset buttons

I'm also bummed that Nissa peace'd out. Wasn't into the way she was written per se, she didn't flow from the other stories. I like how AgentGreen put it. She's unhinged.I do feel we're just getting a taste of the frosting. There's a big ol' 25th year birthday cake of deliciousness headed our way

DemonDragonJ, Did you like, not read the story last set? All of that was explained.

greyninja, Ugin wasn't trying to introduce Jace and Azor, he was probably just hoping Bolas might follow Jace and wind up trapped on Ixalan. Jace mentions it in the last story.

Ugin is a "greater good" type, and it's heavily implied that he intended to sacrifice Azor's spark from the beginning (and Azor himself, seeing as he'd be trapped on a plane with an angry Bolas).
