The two-part season finale concludes today; as the 4 factions on the plane converge on the location of Orzaca. Who will cross the finish line first?

No I dont think vona has died, she still would have had her sword and despite huatli seizing the Compass, leaving the vampire and calling a predator I think she would either kill it or somehow manage to escape it.

My guess is that Kumena managed to arrive first and has made some move to activate the Immortal Sun.

Excellent points Phaetion. It seems that Jace prior to getting mind broken he was getting tired of being the Guildpact. If he discards his title as Guildpact he can look away at Vraska's past transgressions, and have her join the Gatewatch
The other thing to look at is this: With Vraska getting bombarded by Jace's memories; she will see the formation of the Gatewatch, what was done on Zendikar, Innistrad, Kaladesh and how they were defeated by Bolas on Amonkhet. If she sees what Bolas has done, would her time with Jace show her that Bolas is not someone to be trusted and she will join up with the Gatewatch (which means an Oath of Vraska is incoming)?

My predictions
- Jace convinces Vraska to not give the artifact to Bolas
- Vraska joins the gatewatch. She has said that she likes to protect people and only kills those who deserves it, seems like a possibility.
- Jace forgives Vraska and they stay friends
- all the factions join up to fight kumeta (or whatever his name is)
Those are my predictions right now

pizzagod13: Except there's a little piece about Vraska dating Jace. It's outright stated, so we're likely going to see it unfold.

That too, I thought about that from story 3, and I guess I just forgot to put it down

Something to add is that the vampire Vona, I think? May not be inclined to help them since they kinda want to suck all the "evil doers" blood and all that.

I think my favorite part of the article was the reference to Dinosaurs (the tv show)

I don't really care if Jace x Vraska becomes a thing one way or another, but when Vraska said "Maybe he'd ask her on a date someday" it just kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Idk, but just normal dating in Mtg just feels off, especially between two former enemies, a Gorgon and a Mind-mage, and it just feel so rushed anyway, that it feels weird. I do really enjoy them being friends, simply by the way they interact with eachother.
Anyway, I'll comment this on every one of the Ixalan story articles, but no-memory Jace is best Jace. His character is way better developed (although I don't like the idea of Jace without his hood, Jace, Ingenious Mind-Mage's art kinda freaks me out) than old Jace. Best quote from Jace in a long time-
"'No, it was cut by dinosaur loggers," Jace explained further in perfect, sarcasm-less deadpan. Vraska snorted a laugh.
Jace shook his head gravely. "Don't insult the noble trade of dinosaur forestry.'"

I'm disappointed jace will be getting his memories back. I think WotC had a opportunity to do something unique with the amnesia. They could have simply never made him get it back. This could have opened up many interesting avenues.
Interesting interactions with the other gatewatch members, especially Gideon and liliana.
A fresh relationship with Vraska, unhappered by their pasts.
A hard reset of a boring character that I, for one, didn't like.
Future Interactions with Bolas. Would have loved to see bolas talk to new jace. Maybe even employ him with Vraska in his plans, further surprising the gatewatch later in the story.
I'm sure they'll still do some neat stuff with new/old jace, but I wish they'd never had given him his memory back.

I don't mind either the new/old jace, but I do have to say that I think they should have kept the 'new' Jace without his original memories for a longer time period, it just feels too soon of a change again.

Practically everyone is arriving at Orazca, so I am excited to see what shall happen, next!
How do we know that the vampire was Vona? I also am disappointed that a character with such a powerful card was defeated so easily in the story.
SteelSentry, what was the reference to Dinosaurs?
If Jace does regain his memory, will he also regain his memories of his youth on his homeplane? It would make sense for him to do so, and strain credibility if he does not.

Delta-117 I have to agree with you there. It was stupid to give him back is memories in the set immediately after the set he lost them.
Also can we talk about how he got them back?? He hit his head. He hit his head on a rock.
Not only is this an annoying cliche, it's also not how memory works!

Ya, I agree with Suns_Champion about Bolas, or should I say Lord Nicolas. It would be really interesting if Vraska brought the Compass back with jace, and Bolas recruits Jace, convincing him he's a "good guy" and then when the rest of the gatewatch reunites with Ajani and some other PWs that Ajani brought along (I'm thinking at least Tamiyo from his Story Circle thing), they go to fight Bolas and find Jace helping Bolas.
It's also going to be interesting what happens when Vraska, who is seeing all of Jace's memories (as are everyone else nearby I assume), sees that Bolas is the one who took Jace's memory away, since she had recently said that she "couldn't wait to petrify whoever hand taken his memories."

DemonDragonJ I can only assume the bit about the dinosaur logging industry was a reference, because it's very unlikely the writer came up with that independently from Dinosaurs

SteelSentry, I see; I have seen some episodes of that series, but I would not say that I am intimately familiar with it.

I feel like WotC is slipping. That "Jace hits head, gets memory back" bit was DEFINITELY cliche and a waste of potential. On top of that, the writing was still lacking in explaining how this sort of convergence of main characters happened. Huatli, tishana, jace, vraska, and vona I can handle. The last race explained their convergence well enough. Angrath though? He literally shows up for two seconds with no explanation of how he managed to follow this band on a three day treck wherein the group is following a magic compass, but he also has literally no reason to be there in this story. He doesn't DO anything. It's just kind of a "oh yeah, and angrath was there lol" moment.
Also, if kumena made it to orazca first, how did he do so without the compass? Why was he able to locate orazca on his own when tishana (a much older and wiser Merfolk) couldn't?
This story just felt kinda lazily done, or perhaps rushed? Either way, I really hope the story quality doesn't flip back to its old mediocrity as quickly as Jace recovered his memory. I was starting to think we had a good thing going.

Also, just dawned on me that jace got his memory back after falling through a plot hole and hitting his head too hard. Real funny WotC
October 19, 2017 3:09 a.m.
Maybe when Jace gets his memories back he'll be some combination of new and old Jace and be a little bit less of a wet blanket.
October 19, 2017 9:20 a.m.
If I had to guess (based on new jace's mindset and ideologies), that's exactly what's gonna happen. I'm curious to see whether he sort of absorbs both personalities and becomes a more mature and developed version of both personas, or whether WotC ends up turning him into smeagol

The post-story questions article just posted may suggest that too, DuTogira.
What else got me is this: Bolas sent Vraska to Ixalan for a reason; but despite him being the master tactician and planer....he was never counting on Jace being there. That miscalculation could put in a W for the Gatewatch vs. Bolas

Let's see...
Angrath not being as evil as we make him out to be...a less malevolent Nixy.
Vraska having a crush on Jace...only for his memories to return. Here's my take on this: When you leave something for a bit, then return to it, you see things from a new perspective. This is no different. Jace and Vraska can still get together because Jace will have a new view on everything. Perhaps he decides to let go of his duty as the Guildpact and pass it on. And, of course, being part of the 'Watch that would be reunited will have implications on this decision. I suspect Vraska will join the Gatewatch in the future.
Oh, and did Vona die in the story? I didn't quite catch if that was the case when Huatli's dinosaur tore through the vampire.
