Today's story; with the Immortal Sun gone, Hutali realizes the truth doesn't belong to whoever happens to be in charge

  1. Vona got what she deserved.

  2. The Emperor is a massive jerk.

  3. Huatli on Zacama's back? Your arguments are invalid because that must be pretty epic.

  4. Speaking of Huatli, I'm interested in where she goes. Being a writer, I can relate to her willingness to explore different worlds and create stories from what she will experience.

I really liked Elenda's character here. Wise and ancient, and pretty mad at what has become of her vampires.

And yes, Phaetion is 100% right here, just showing up casually riding a massive 3-headed elder dinosaur is pretty epic. If I was huatli I would just make Zacama eat him or something.

I greatly enjoyed Angrath's exit speech.

Didn't really like this story. Angrath's sudden exit after so much interesting character building, the complete lack of character and blandness of the emperor and family, and no resolution for Huatli other than her wandering off. The vampire piece was fairly good, but its not good writing to introduce information to the readers (Elenda is alive and a much better person than we thought) and then reintroduce it shortly afterwards between characters.

If Hutali doesn't end up a part of Tamiyo's story circle, I'm gonna start a riot.

I liked Angrath's exit. Seemed very true to his character.

Elenda is neat. Interesting character. Is this the final RIX lore? Because her card Elenda, the Dusk Rose really implies that she dies at some point.

Huatli. What to do with her. I expected her to renounce the title of warrior poet as soon as the emperor started acting like a jerk. Why didn't she just anouce to the whole empire what happened? Take control of the empire or something? Like you just rose in on an Elder Dino, you have all the power right now. But instead she's going on a one week vacation! What?? Confused by her choices.

Suns_Champion: I would say it's because Huatli didn't want to cause chaos within the Empire. Huatli may have power, but the emperor (booo!) has the authority. Besides, Huatli's going to return to put the jerk in his place.

Considering the vote, it's us. We tell the stories.

I think I can see some of the setups for each of the possible outcomes of the vote. The stage is now set for a conflict between the Sun Empire and River Heralds for either of them to win Orazca. Actually, I would prefer to think of the River Heralds' scenario as the peace version and the Sun Empire's scenario as the fight it out version.

I think the Legion of Dusk scenario will involve Vona rallying the vampires against Elenda's wishes.

I wonder if the Brazen Coalition scenario will involve Admiral Beckett Brass and her fleet.

RicketyEng: It's safe to say the pirates will return to Torrezon after some negotiation with Elenda. It won't be there at first, but once Elenda shows the Legion's errors, they might reconsider attacking.

You know, I am REALLY disappointed with how Zacama turned out. I mean, you have three heads, have the title of Primal Calamity, and you answer to a midget ant? In my opinion, Zac should have been totally uncontrollable and completely ruthless, should have eaten EVERYONE.

The art on Huatli, Radiant Champion begs to differ. ;)

I believe that this story provided a mostly satisfactory conclusion to the story of Ixalan.

Angrath's departure was very nice and perfectly in-character for him; I do wish that he had had more presence in the story, but it is safe to presume that he shall return, again.

I do like how Elenda rebuked Vona and Mavren Fein, so I hope that the legion is less hostile in the future.

I severely disliked how the emperor disregarded Huatli's story and wanted her to tell his own, so I hope that she openly defies him or at least makes some effort to undermine him.

However, I do like how the story ended on a positive note, and I expect that Huatli will appear again, later in the story.
